Vivek College of Commerce BMS Review By Deepak Nair

Vivek College of Commerce is located in Goregaon and is a completely dedicated commerce college. I had Thakur College in mind as I stay in Kandivali East but chose this one over others as this college is a complete and best commerce college in suburbs down under. Not known or spoken much of this college but is highly underrated as it is certainly one of the best in terms of education, facilities, and for overall development of students. I am glad that I joined this college during junior year itself and didn’t leave the college until I attained my graduate degree from the college. Not just academics but co-curricular activities are given equal importance in this college and many TV stars and star kids have attended this college. This has helped other students to pursue the same interest. As a 16-year-old travelling all the way from Kandivali to Goregaon seems a big deal but it has all paid off and I don’t my journey would be completed unless I thank Vivek College of Commerce.

The college has the commerce faculty and therefore from junior college itself we were encouraged to take higher studies in commerce as a simple commerce graduate is of no demand in today's world. Those words stayed with me and didn’t stop until I did post-graduation in Management studies. The foundation stone of that was laid at this very college and talking about studies this college is certainly the best. The teaching methods and the tools they use to make learning easy helped me a lot.

The number of faculty members were high not just in numbers but high in teaching standard as well. They made the course look so simple not just in junior college but during BMS as well. To get entry in this college is not that tough as not many students have made this their top choice and will have to say that they have made a wrong choice. None the less I was glad and so happy with the professors. Their helping hands and advice has helped most of us to achieve career goals. Without their guidance and support, I don’t think we would have been able to do so. I want to thank all Vivek College faculty from the core of my heart and wish them the best to continue with their efforts and take this college to a place where it thoroughly deserves.

The placement weren’t as great 4 years back as they are now. In our time BMS students didn’t get any placements whatsoever. The college too didn’t lie about that and made it clear at the start that there’s BMS wont fetch you any payments and therefore try to focus on higher studies. As of now companies like Morgan Stanley and Patni Computers have made Vivek college their heartthrob and many students have got placed directly from the campus to these institutions and many other renowned banks as well. The time will tell as the college education system is one of the best and the leaps and bounce that college has made in the recent part have taken the college name to another level.

There’s no hostel facility provided by the college. However, Goregaon and Malad have become student’s paradise with the number of houses and PGs made specially to accommodate students. Goregaon is known for its Malyali and Rajasthan community occupancy and therefore many students from Kerala and Rajasthan are a frequent enroller in this college. I had few in my batch as well and they never find any difficulty in finding flats.

The college is relatively smaller as it's just a building and a small parking space. The college building though has all the features one can ask for. The classrooms are huge and ventilated as there are no huge buildings nearby and therefore even though the rooms are not air-conditioned were still decent. The college building has separate boys and girls Gymkhana. Separate B.Com lab and B.Sc IT lab are also there in the main building. The college office and staff room are on the ground floor. All the floors of the building have separate boys and girls washroom. A mid-sized college library is also there on the second floor. An air-conditioned auditorium on the top and nice canteen in all is what Vivek college has.

The time in college was spent in classrooms as there was not much space in the campus to have fun with friends. Classrooms and canteens were the only places as any noise in library was not tolerated. In all, I had a great time at the college and what best was that Goregaon sports club offered special discounts for students of Vivek College of Commerce. I along with my friends had taken membership of the club and evenings were spent there. It was all fun and glory days at the Vivek college of commerce.
