St. Xavier's College Ranchi was established in 1889 and pre-independent era. The college has proved its worth and delivered exceptionally towards economic, institutional, and organizational aspects of society. The college holds its legacy and has given quality education for more than decades. The autonomy was conferred to the college from July 2005 so that it has freedom in designing its courses, arranging for instructions to students, devising evaluation methods, conducting examinations and tests. Thus for all good reasons the college is autonomous and imparts quality education to the students.

I had joined for Bachelor in Commerce in Accounts Honors. The field has some of the best teachers who are renowned the Ranchi University. The university is autonomous and thus drafts its own curriculum and implements the latest teaching methods.

St. Xavier’s college holds and can proudly claim that it has some of the best lecturers and professors in the city. The professors are committed to their job and provide lectures which frames the future of the students not only for the three years in Bachelors degree but beyond that. The professors are available for regular doubt solving and career counseling requirements. It was started humbly with limited students but has catered to more than 300 students. The faculty here is from diverse fields and all walks of life that have one aim of delivering teachings of high caliber to transforms the lives of students positively.

St.Xavier’s is known for imparting quality education so every year several companies come here for campus selection and select the gems from the college. The students proudly claim their seats in several companies as they are groomed and nurtured in the college for their future professional life.

The hostel is available only for boys and not girls. The hostel facility is safe and provides hygienic food for the students. The college authority manages the hostel. There are several genuine paying guests accommodations near the college where the girls can safely reside. Canteen is open for both girls and boys and provides good quality food at the most affordable prices. The college canteen opens from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM. During holidays the canteen remains closed. The canteen offers light refreshment. Moreover to maintain discipline and decorum which is a crucial aspect for the college and for safety reasons the students are not allowed to sit for more than twenty minutes in the canteen.

Spread over a massive area of 29.8 acres it is an old heritage building. Newly constructed sections have been added to the college. However for B.Com the classes are held in the old main building with which the college had started. The college can be divided in three buildings mainly, the main building, PG building, and the admin building. With huge stair case classes, big auditorium, separate rest rooms for girls and boys, the college definitely holds fame for its huge and comfortable building. There is playground for promoting college sports and an open hall and roofed auditorium for holding seminars by esteemed guests. There are huge verandahs in each floor to let the students study.
Clean and fresh environment. While discussing the infrastructure special mention of library has to be made. The library has more than one lac books and journals. Some of the books are rare and popular books from all genres are there. There are also language labs in the college which have the latest software for language. There is gym facility also available in the college for the students. The students need to take membership of the gym and renew it periodically.

St. Xavier’s is known for promoting all round development of students and thus the campus life of the students has various dimensions. The stage has always been of great honor and several esteemed guests from the industry come to enlighten the students. The college fest is organized to promote the indigenous culture of the city and yet showcase the unity of the nation. The college holds several debates, seminars, programs, and competitions to help the students shine in all fields. The zeal in the college campus is commendable where students from all sections of the society come to study and stand together through the thick and thins.
