I am pursuing B.Tech from IIT Bombay in engineering physics. Talking about my experience, it's been 3 months here and believe me it’s been a wonderful experience. Preparing hard for JEE was felt worth it after coming here. The reason behind choosing IIT Bombay is obvious as it's one of the best engineering colleges in our country. I was getting a little better branch it other IIT's too but my decision of going with IIT Bombay is something I will never regret. The culture, the environment, especially the freedom we get here is just something you will enjoy every day. Talking about the campus infrastructure it is just awesome and the lake inside campus is such a big blessing for us as it gives you a scenic view from your window ever morning.

Talking about academics its bit chill in first year. Specifically talking about my department, it is considered to be the 3rd best branch after C.S and E.E. Some tech companies open only for C.S, E.E, B.S Maths and E.P. Of course, E.P is research-oriented branch and it’s academically heavy and a bit difficult than other courses but if you have keen interest in physics and like to know about concepts in depth than it's the branch you should aim of. Of course, if your priority changes within four years you can go for placement too. Almost every Non-Core company opens for E.P, some EE core companies and some special tech companies which only open for top branches. Definitely you can opt this branch but only if you are interested in research and want to know everything in depth and you should be aware that you have to study hard, you won't get free time as much as other department, it will be hard to explore other things, so decide wisely.

Talking about faculty, if I have to define them in one sentence "they are best in country". Almost every faculty member is PhD holder and most of them are doing research in different streams. Many faculty members have published their research paper which inspires student a lot. Talking about faculty student relationship it so chill. Professors here are so chill they always try to help us in every way possible. Their knowledge about their stream is so vast and the way they make us understand the concept is something we appreciate a lot.

Coming to placement, yes IIT Bombay has a Placement Cell, and it is one of the best in India. IIT's are known for their placement. Once you enter the IIT you should not worry about placement so much, placement cell will get the work done. Placement cells help you to acquire job in every field from non - core companies to research companies. I would like to mention the importance of CPI as it is very important form placement perspective, some companies have CPI criteria to sit in their interview it varies according to job profile, for quant companies it is usually greater than 9 and for research companies it’s 9.5 or more. But most of the companies don't have CPI criteria so you should not worry until and unless you want to go for that company that has packages in crores.

Hostel at IIT Bombay is bit disappointing as hostel are so old and rooms are very small. The main problem is the size of the room only, rest of the things are just perfect you get all the basic facilities in your hostel like laundry services, washing machine, dryer, water cooler, regular cleaning of toilets (we have one common toilet for 3 rooms, it can vary according to different hostels), hostel canteen (every hostel has their own canteen which is open up to 4 A.M ), gyms (every hostel has their own separate gym which is equipped with almost every modern equipment). Specifically talking about first year as fresher we get two hostels out of which H-16 is good and rooms are big enough, but H-1 rooms are so small, earlier those rooms were made for accommodating one person but due to large number of students and less room now two students live there which make it congested. As you move to second and third year you get rooms smaller than H-16 rooms but by that time you learn how to adjust. Talking about fourth year at that time you get the single occupancy room in H-18, 17 which are newly built hostels, and they look like hotels and facilities are also too good in their hostels. There are some cons of old hostel but vibe and culture you find there is something you will remember for your whole life. A special point to be mentioned there are many new hostels under construction and some very old hostels are also being demolished and are going to be built again so small rooms problem will be sought in coming few years.

Infrastructure wise IIT Bombay is one of the best colleges in India. I agree some of the buildings are old as campus is very old but the facilities inside those building are also world class level and what to say about new building, they are just awesome. We have world class labs at IIT Bombay equipped with modern equipment. Talking about cafes at IIT Bombay we have so many cafes apart of hostel canteen like cafe 92, civil cafe, chayoos, CCD. There is also a Gulmohor restaurant for fine dining and aroma dhaba for bit inexpensive meals. Apart from modern building and great infrastructure IIT-B is also blessed with natural beauty. We have a lush green campus with a hill and a lake inside campus. Coming to sports facilities in simple world they are just awesome we have indoor courts and outdoor courts for almost every sport. We have badminton arena, squash court, indoor football turf, indoor basketball courts, indoor volleyball courts, indoor kho-kho courts, indoor lawn tennis courts, indoor table tennis courts and many more. Apart from hostel gyms we have a separate gym at new sac building which is the biggest and newest and have trainers there to help you out.

Coming to campus life. No IIT (Or any other Indian college) can touch IITB. Whatever you want, music, sport, literature, every little thing. IITB has achieved in that sphere. The facilities for extracurricular here are exemplary which make campus life you will admire for your whole life. From organising the biggest college fest of Asia (Mood indigo) to tech fest every experience is just worth it. I would like to mention that night life here at IIT-B is something different from other colleges. We have freedom to move out of hostel anytime we want there are no restrictions. Canteens are open whole night which makes them perfect place to hang out and you can see people hanging out there till morning.
