Indian Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Raut Sahil Prakash

The Indian Institute of Technology BHU Varanasi is a very prestigious and old institute it is totally a proud moment for me to study here. I have worked hard enough to get admission in this institute for past two year at the time of my JEE preparation. Now when I arrived at this institute, I feel great as I always wanted to study at an IIT and enjoying my life to the fullest. When I entered the college, I felt a bit disappointed as the old infrastructure was not which I was expecting from an institute like IIT, and I was also disappointed by the heat. At least the lecture halls should have AC. Within two days of arriving at Varanasi I was dehydrated as I was sweating too much. But I would say apart from the infrastructure everything is up to the mark. With the legacy of more than 100 years it was time for me to be part of this community. It is a pretty huge campus full of greenery and trees everywhere. As an IIT it is excellent in academics but as well as sports and other co-curricular activities. It is totally a ragging free campus. There are plenty of grounds where you can play and tons of clubs to explore new things and follow your passion. This institute has a great startup culture and as all students are highly intellectual you have the competitive environment which Leeds to yourself development. I choose this institute because of its excellent performance in NIRF and placements. According to me it is best among all IIT in terms of core placements as placements in core is much more difficult as compared to that in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical and other circuital branches. At last, talking about the mess, according to me one of the best messes as compared to all other institutes. It provides a variety of foods every time and I bet you won't miss your home food but there is a problem they don't provide anything as evening snacks or tea as it is served in other colleges. Overall, the campus is all green and clean and lots more to explore in the college and outside of the college also. Varanasi is a very lively place to visit the ghat and enjoy the mesmerizing view of Ganga and specially the Ganga Arti. The campus is full of spiritual vibes, and I bet you, once you come here you are not going to leave this place mentally.

As an IIT which are the most prestigious institute in India I should rather say world it makes a special place in everyone's head about the students studying in these institutes as they have qualified one of the toughest examinations JEE Advanced and got an opportunity to study here that they must be nerds and studying the whole day but believe me it is not the situation. Basically, in the first semester or rather I should say while first year it is a bit hectic and challenging for the students to cope with academic pressure as all became too free that I have arrived where I wanted to be and start to chill a bit more than required but eventually the academic pressure decreases as we spend more time in the campus and started to cope up with the situation. Not all the students here are nerds many are good in sports and extra co-curricular activities. The teachers are highly qualified and so well spoken they are the experts of their field and with the immense knowledge they are eager to help you out with your doubts in the class and also out of the class. One may think that the competition in an institution like IIT is too much high and they might not be able to handle it but slowly you will get it and actually it is not that difficult. All students here study before a night of the examination and for your shock they all get passed with a good grade. It does seem like a bit overloaded from outside but believe me it is really easy, and you would enjoy studying one night before and score almost same as the one student who literally study every day for the examination. And for the one who want to study further like M.Tech or want to do some research IIT provides you all you needed weather it is about contacts resources or guidance, and it will be very helpful for your future. In should be very free while living in the campus. Enjoy their life make new friends make memories but remember you can't get rid of the studies you have to study to at least get a good CGPA which will later on help you with your internships and placements.

Talking about the faculty they are well qualified and done their graduation and PhDs from very prestigious colleges like IIT and many foreign universities. They are really friendly and open for everyone doubts inside the class as well as outside of class. Some teachers teaching style is extremely good and entertaining and they support the children whether mentally or with studies grades, but some might be a little strict. Like one of professor is really helpful and kind he newer forces anyone to attend the classes for attendance and unlike other professor he did not believe in overloading students with ton of assignment so that students start to feel like it is a burden, and they just try to copy from others without understanding. Unlike another professor he just gave us only one assignment in the whole semester. But you need to remember their existing some professor which do not care about you and overload you with a ton of assignment labs and quizzes. But it's a part of life and you should enjoy this with your fellow batch mates and sometimes these are the only things which will be remembered later.

Yes, we have an excellent Placement Cell in our college which provides us information and guidance about the internships and placements. According to me it's a great initiative by our college to provide us the facility of placement cell as it helps us a lot in grabbing an internship or placement. It is fully functional in our college and actively working for better placement of the students. They prepare us for our interview by taking mock interview and help us for designing our CV as it is the most important and crucial part of any internship or placement hiring as the hirer will judge you by your CV before meeting them. The mock interviews really help us to procrastinate it in real situation and feel the heat of real interviews and know how to tackle any questions asked in interviews.

As I earlier mentioned about the infra as it is not up to the mark for an institution like IIT which are best in the country and also has a worldwide network. As the seats are increasing but the infrastructure is not increasing at the rate it should be 3 students are living in a room which is meant to be for two students. The rooms are furnished with two beds two table and chairs and two almirahs. The rooms were designed according to two students but as the strength increases the students have to adjust. Also, as it is common washroom system in hostels it became quite annoying sometimes because of the cleanliness issues. Overall, the hostels are good only the occupancy of the rooms is a big issue and sometimes you may feel the requirements of ac or cooler but having a cooler is not practical as already three students are living in a room of two.

From an institute like IIT you expect top notch infra with posh building, but you might hurt your feelings after coming to IIT BHU. According to me the only thing which needs to be improved vigorously is the infrastructure of IIT BHU. Although it's an old college but they should at least pay attention towards the condition of buildings and some old hostels. The work of making new hostels and lecture halls is going on a pretty fast pace and many new hostels will be ready in the span of 1 year. But for me the old infra and the essence of culture in the buildings is mesmerizing to watch and feel it .it will definitely make to forgot about the bad condition of some buildings.

Talking about campus life in IIT is the best thing to discuss among the one who are vigorously preparing to take admission in IITs. Apart from academics every year every IIT conduct fest like cultural fest sports fests and tech fests. In IIT BHU we have majorly 3 fests first one is the sports fest which is spardha which generally happens in the month of October where college from all over India compete together and many celebrities are called to make the event more happening. After spardha it's time for the cultural fest known as kashiyatra it is for the music and dance enthusiasts and also many other activities are a part of this fest and at the last day of this fest a huge DJ night is managed by our own college where famous singers perform. Finally in the month of March the most happening event the tech fest of IIT BHU also known as technex takes place. It contains various events like bottle rocket, drones' race, RC car racing, ATV racing, robiwars and many more also followed by DJ night, every festival is celebrated here with the same energy and enthusiasm by the students.
