Indian Institute of Information Technology B.Tech Review By Nikhil Yadav

After I got allotted a seat in ECE Branch of IIIT Ranchi, honestly, I did not expect my college to be this good. In spite of being a new college I must say my college is in a good condition considering the academics and extra activities. We freshers are being introduced to various tech clubs and events which excites me to develop my skills other than academics. Our college is still in growing stage but soon it will be on the level of other top IIIT's and NIT's.

As a fresher both the CS students and ECE students share common academics till 1st year. In IIIT's we get exposure to different subjects like learning Computer languages, Engineering Physics, Communication skills and core Electronics also including our main course subjects which helps us to develop interests in other fields too where we can research and study. We also get to attend Computer and Electronics lab sessions from the 1st year.

Faculty of my college IIIT Ranchi are highly qualified from NIT'S, IIT's and have great in-depth knowledge in their respective fields. Their approach to subjects involves concept building ideas which helps us to understand the subject well and not mug up the topics. They are supportive and whenever we have doubts, we can approach them and clear our doubts, they are always helpful towards us.

The Placements and Internships are managed by E-Cell of IIIT Ranchi. Our seniors and faculties organize many events and guide us to make a perfect road map for our future. The clubs organized here helps us to develop and find our interest in different skills like competitive coding, web and app designing, product design management. These skills will help us in getting jobs in various tech companies.

One thing I can say for sure is the 1st Year Hostels at IIIT Ranchi is really good and better than most IIIT's And NIT's. Here our hostels are in 2 and 3 BHK flat systems which include 1 Hall, Kitchen space and 2 or 3 Bedrooms where 6 to 8 students reside in each flat. We are also provided with bed and a study table. The rooms are spacious, and our hostels are in exposure to open surroundings which makes a great cool surrounding and good view. Power cuts are a major issue here, but issues are raised so they are improving soon.

Being a new college, our college does not have a permanent campus yet. However, we are told that the new permanent campus of our college will be ready in 2025 which will be spread across 60 to 70 acres. Currently our college is running in 3 different campuses. We 1st year students are currently staying in JUT Campus. 2nd, 3rd and 4th year are running in other 2 Campuses. JUT campus has a good walking space and greenery. We can also play different sports on our Ground.

As IIIT Ranchi doesn't have a permanent campus we get limited options in terms of enjoying campus life. Still, we have many events and workshops related to tech events and different fields which give a decent campus life experience. You cannot expect similar campus life compared to other top IIIT's and NIT's, but I can say for sure that considering it a new college the campus life is decent where you can play sports, have a good walk in the ground, get exposure to many events and clubs. The placements are satisfactory and will grow even better in the future years. If you are good with the above factors and points welcome to IIIT Ranchi.
