LPU B.Tech Review By Keshav Rathi

LPU is undoubtedly the one of the best private universities of India (at least on paper), it’s just my first year at the college and I've already been exposed to a numerous opportunity both academically and too in terms of extra-curricular. It’s a vast university with a lot of courses and fields to explore.

Academically, I am a CSE student, surely the course itself isn’t a child's play but with LPU's 75% min attendance criteria and tons of assignments and CAs every week/month it just seems to be getting even harder, but it's expected from any private university. Plus, it provides a giant resource and a collection of libraries to boost us academically which is accessible 24x7. But there's a lot of competition with over 100s of sections so it's all in our hands on how well we access ourselves and equip ourselves with skills for placement drives.

There’s a mixed positive-negative aspect for the faculty as some of them are really good at their jobs and give their best but on the total opposite hand I've encountered a few staff members that are totally rude and not at all helpful. We to keep strict discipline in class and are not allowed to do much during lectures. As I said earlier it totally depends on you and you can't totally rely on teachers to teach you well. Sometimes and for some specific subjects, it’s all you.

Yes, there's a Placement Cell at the institute. Naturally as a fresher I really don't know much about it but whatever I've heard from my seniors is that they're really not that helpful to everyone. They have a causal behavior about the placements but if you keep a good CGPA and everything, you'll be allowed sitting in nearly every placement drive.

Yes, I have the residential facilities. The hostel life is surely good and beautiful. The volume of the rooms is perfect but for the 5seater rooms it's the same and gets a little messy as it has the same volume as any other room preference (so it’s definitely not very suitable). The mess is average and sometimes the food quality is not good but it’s alright by you always have the option to fill a complaint and they normally upgrade the quality after massive complaints are registered. The laundry is poor but it’s the only option for someone who never had washed clothes their entire life. They generally take 3-4 days to give you back the clothes and you can give up to 8 clothes. You can access laundry to give dirty clothes only 2 days a week (days are allotted according to your block); lately they're taking a week to return the clothes and sometimes the wash quality isn't good either.

The infrastructure is really well for certain parts of the university. They have technology-based teaching methods and biometrics scan for hostel that makes it safe. But in some parts of the university (ESP block 26/27) the infrastructure is poor with poor quality of seats and flickering projector. they're working to replace that but still its poorly maintained as compared to other blocks and not to mention, the elevator (ESP in boys' hostel) seems to be stuck and goes under maintenance every few days.

I would say that LPU is all about good your excellent campus life surrounded by all kinds of happenings nearly every single day. There are always events and concerts going on. They have a specialized block (block 13) for student welfare and clubs. They have a lot of clubs for every kind. One thing about LPU is that you can hardly ever sit idle and there's always something going on, so it’s very difficult to get bored.
