The NIT is situated in not very distant part of the city, but it will seem like it because the college is spread over 187 acres. I have been on campus for more than 1.5 years and there are still some places that I haven't visited in the campus, well that another topic. The overall college is more than 7.2/10. The locals of Durgapur are nice and have great character, but some shopkeepers will try to scam you in the campus I don't know whether it is they have to or they just want to and that's the one of the worst things I was experiencing in the start but as you will get used to campus you will not fall for these scams. The hostels are well maintained, and the furniture of the rooms are also maintained in a great manner, electric service is also good you just have to register the complaint or call the electrician and it will be fixed in 1 day that's a plus point.

In academics, the college lives up to its reputation and rank. The teachers are very interactive and knowledgeable about the subjects they are teaching, and they provide whatever things seems necessary to the students to get them prepared for the upcoming challenges they will be facing in the life whether it be academically or emotionally we don't lack any support in this field. I think some teachers are always unreasonable because they just feel like they are right, and we are wrong I am telling about my 5th semester Open Elective teacher PSB sir. He is very unreasonable because if you are absent in his last class for some reason like family or anything personal, he will make you stand at the back for the whole class and sometimes he will even kick you out of the class for this reason.

As I said in the academic section most of the teachers are good and some like PSB sir are unreasonable which you want to avoid as much as possible. Most of the teachers I interact with are very knowledgeable and have years of experience in the subject they are teaching. All of the teachers have different and unique style of teaching. Some teachers like to be sigma while teaching and will remain unfaced and don't care and some like to be very interactive and kind of parent like just want to teach and have fun in whatever they are teaching. All of these are well educated and perfectly fit for the positions they hold in the institution.

I am from Civil Department, and we are not sitting for placements because we have spent 3 years and we will be allowed in 4th year but as I have heard from seniors, the placement is like 50/50 in civil department if you are preparing for IT sector then that great but placement for core is very less.

There are total of 14 hostels in our institution and all of them are well maintained with the service staff that is needed in it. All of them have wardens and care takers.

The infrastructure is good, all branches have their own department locations and are provided with enough area to teach, the classes are very good in new academic block but in main academic block the classes are not air conditioned and that's a minus point. There is even a new building which is almost complete and will soon be used for teaching purposes, other projects.

The life is great, there is greenery everywhere you go, the staff is friendly and there is a mall near the college where you can visit every now and then, gender ration seems ok, there are cases where you just chill out, in the morning you go for a run nobody stops you, after 2nd year, no restrictions are there.
