Haldia Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Rituparno Roy

Haldia Institute of Technology is one of the finest college in West Bengal with NAAC Accredited, Grade 'A' Institute and 163rd in NIRF rank. Recently our institution got autonomous body which is great.

One can get admission in this college through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) or through All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). College Management System is very qualitative. In academics section to administration, library to hostel, health centre, alumni everything is under great management system. There are 13 under graduate courses and 7 post graduate courses in this institute.

In academic section there are School of applied science & Engineering, School of Engineering, School of Food, Chemical & Biotechnology in this college. I'm doing my B.Tech on Food Technology which is under school of Food, Chemical & Biotechnology. There are 13 UG courses and each and every course is high rated from my point of view. I choose the Food Technology course for less competition because the seat allotted for this course in HIT is lesser than other courses. And this course gives me more from my expectation.

This course make me know about Food Microbiology, Food Preservation, Food packaging, Food processing, Enzyme Technology and many more. There are very limited college with this Food Technology course in West Bengal and there is a huge scope and has a great future with this course and also the competition is less I mentioned before due to limited no. of colleges and less students so it is really easy to get a job and make yourself successful with this course.

There are 12 faculties of my course, Food Technology and almost 250+ faculties overall in my college. Each teacher has more than 10 years of teaching experience in my college. All the faculties are very enthusiastic with their profession and give an extraordinary and proper guidance to each and every single student. For academics purpose to sports they encourage their students very much.

Every teacher of my department is really familiar to their students. All the teaching staffs are from highly academic qualification background. There are 4 faculties with Ph.D degree and others with masters degree. Each of the teaching staffs is specialized on their own subject and they teach us very genuinely, and very specifically. Their guidance is really very valuable for us.

In case of training & placement section HIT has a consistence record among all the private college in India. Students of this university are placed in world's best firm with a huge package. College provides best grooming for each student and makes them capable for the best company. There are lots of top companies that visited every year in HIT campus with their best package for hiring students from each department. Highest package provided in my batch of Rs. 24.6 lakhs p.a. There are many companies with high package like ITC, Nestle, Tech Mahindra, TCS, Infosys etc. All the above companies give best package so the average package of this institute is around Rs. 5-6 L.P.A which is really great.

Around 90 core companies visited every year with their best package and almost 600 numbers of jobs are offered. It is seen that the graph of placement moves upward every year. More than 70% of fresher are recruited every year which is remarkable.

You must get a best hostel facility with a good management system. 15% of total strength is allotted for foreign students and more than 70% are outsiders of Haldia, so that is the main reason for getting the best hostel facility. There are 8 hostels inside the campus of HIT, and 6 hostels outside the campus. In between 14 hostels there are 8 general hostels for boys 5 general hostels for girls and 1 special hostel for foreign students. Every hostel provides almost 100 rooms, some are for duo combo and some are for a 4 student squad. There are common bathrooms with proper hygienic maintenance for all the hostels. Every hostel provides a good canteen for providing 4 time meal in a day. Except these all the hostels provide a common ground, a common room with all sports kits, 5-6 guests' rooms and also many facilities.

There are separate hostel for boys and girls. The hostel fee is also very reasonable. After getting such great facilities the hostel charges 12000 INR for a single semester that means 24000 in a year. You must get 4 time meal a day as I mentioned above- 1 breakfast 1 lunch 1 evening tiffin and 1 dinner. You must get various and choosable food every day. The hostel canteen provides lots of varieties dishes with a good quality maintain. The most important is we must thank our hostel security system for providing us a great and safe security all the day.

This institute covers 27 areas with an administrative block of 6118 square meter. There are 9 academics blocks which cover around 27518 square meters. In HIT campus there is also residential area of around 8289 square meters and last but not the least around 40655 square meters for hostel area. So you can imagine the total area of this college campus. Besides the main building of college there is a special library for the students, each and every required laboratory for the entire department, each and every workshop for all the departments.

There are 4 big auditoriums in HIT campus. Except these there are 2 major playgrounds for cricket and football, also there are 7-8 minor playground for individual hostel, there are basketball ground and volleyball ground too. Beside these you can get a best gym for boys and girls separately. There are many food court, cafeteria, laundry, bank, ATM, pharmacy, health centre and other best facilities inside the campus.

From my point of view overall campus life in my college is fantastic. Beside our education campus life is very enjoyable. There are lots of cultural activities, lots of sports and other events are organized by the institution. There are college's own news paper name HITians and The HIT Times which give us the regular updates about the college. There are 2 major cultural fest organized every year name "Prayukti" and "Rang Milanti".

There's also a grand tech fest organized every year for one week. Each students are participated in various event and last day a grand function name "Riviera" is organized. So, yes the campus life is really very precious for all HITians as because there are always some events continuing all over the year.
