Is NITK the best NIT?

Overall Rating
NITK is a great institute which provides you with various opportunities and facilities. We have good infrastructure and great sports facilities, the hostels are being renovated and AC's are being installed in all classes. Placements in NITK are great, you don't have to worry about it, you will be given ample opportunities and seniors are helpful. Club culture in NITK is also great, there is a club for anything that interests you. We have our own college team for app and web development which manages the main NITK app and website
 

Academics Rating
Academic is same as in every other good engineering college in India. It is not very hectic. You have to maintain minimum 75% attendance though. Professors are good and well versed in their expertise. You don't have to worry about anything in NITK. Maintain a good CGPA preferably above 8 and you will be good.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty are great in NITK, every prof has great knowledge in their respective subject. Some may have boring teaching style, some may just come and read the slides, but that is how every other college in India are. But overall I would say faculty is decent in NITK. Most of them have Phd. from NITK itself and some have done it from other premiere institutes in India.
 

Placement Rating
Yes we have a great placement cell. They are really good at what they do. All major companies come at NITK for placements and internship. There is ample opportunity for everyone here.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels are okay. Some are bad but some new one's are also being constructed. The bathroom stinks, cleaning is a problem , there is water shortage on some days, electricity is not a problem, Wifi is decent. We have Table tennis room in hostels too. Mess is ok, like any other mess.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is great. We have our own private beach, the campus is green, large and beautiful. There are many lecture halls, academic bloc , sports complex, swimming pool , Student Activity centre, Auditorium. The buildings are well maintained and news ones are being constructed. Overall Infrastructure is good
 

Campus Rating
Crowds at NITK is good. Most of the people are from Bangalore. There is a resort nearby. There are night canteens and other amenities. NITK has the second largest fest in south India. We have different fest and many other activities are organised throughout the year. We also have our own beach so many fest are conducted there. Campus life is good in NITK

    NITK is the second ranked NIT after NIT Trichy. Its teachers, alumni and students make it a college worth studying in. It is located alongside the calm coastal Surathkal beach with Arabian Sea increasing its beauty. If you get any branch in NITK, it is worth preferring it over other tier 2 NITs.... Read Full Review

    I am studying at Nation Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Karnataka. As I am here for 2 months, I am experiencing a very good culture, nature, and infrastructure here. Students come here from all over the India as this college is one of top 5 NITs. I chose this particular college because of its environment and all other things like faculties and all. Others should also come here as it is giving a very good culture, best faculties, best alumni and all, so in short It is a very beautiful campus.... Read Full Review

    One of the most well-known and prestigious institutes in India. I am a third year student pursuing my B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Surathkal.
