Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Yash Raj Menaria

I am a student of 2nd year at MANIT Bhopal, and I have gained enough experience having stayed about 10 months in the college to give an honest review about my experience. I would say I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and taken a great decision by choosing this college. I always wanted to study in a reputed NIT and felt my course in this college was the best branch for my rank. If you want a decent campus life, sufficient time to explore your skills and an overall fun college life, I will say this college is not a bad option.

I have taken the five-year integrated program in Mathematics and Data Science (B.Tech + M.Tech) and will be graduating in 2027. The entry is done on the basis of AIR secured in the JEE mains. I chose this branch because it is one of the fastest growing jobs and my interest with computers. The first year is common for all and branch specific studies will start from 2nd year. The course curriculum is quite good, and many subjects are similar to subjects in CSE. Even the Maths is something that will help in coding. Till now, I have felt the academics are not too heavy and you will have ample time to pursue other interests. Exams are not too tough, and you can score a great GPA even studying a few days before the exams.

Almost all of our faculty members have either completed their Ph.D or pursuing one and have studied at IITs and NITs. There are a wide variety of teachers, and you will like studying by some of them and not much by others. At the end, just like almost all other colleges, you cannot depend on your professors to teach you and will have to study by your own selves to score well and gain expertise on a subject.

There is an active placement cell in my Institute for placement of students. The course studies are not placement relevant, and you will have to develop your own skills to qualify for placements. The placements are good for CSE and ECE but not quite for other branches. A large number of reputed companies visit our college like Google, JPMC, Flipkart, Microsoft and many more. But you will have to develop your own skills and cannot depend on college to teach you. Most tech companies don't allow branches below electrical to sit for their placements.

There are 12 hostels for students with 2 for girls. All first-year boys are allotted hostel 10CD which is the best hostel (excluding girl's hostels). The rooms are alright; you will like the mess food in beginning but grow to hate it over time. There is Wi-Fi available, but quite irregular. The hostel has a decent ground for playing cricket and football and facilities for indoor games like chess, table tennis and carrom. There is a common TV room. In 2nd year, there are 2 hostels 1 and 2, which are very old with no whitewashed walls and poor furnishing so try not to land yourself there. After first year, hostels are allotted on basis of GPA, so try to score a good GPA to land a good hostel.

Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and CSE have their own departments. Chemical and MSME have a common department. ECE and MDs have their departments running in other blocks. Classes are spacious and labs are also well furnished. There is a great sports complex, but you will not be allowed there in first year until you are great in a sport. There is a temple in campus premises. There are multiple food outlets in campus which serve okay food. The civil auditorium is the most equipped and so all major functions are held here. A 1000-seater auditorium is under construction. An overall infrastructure is present, but you may find it a little old.

The overall campus life is great. Campus is spread over 650 acres and has a lot of greenery. The college is in the middle of the city and is well connected to airport and railway station. There are a variety of clubs like E-cell, ISTE and GDSC which conduct events all through the year. The annual cultural fest is maffick and annual technical fest is technosearch. Sports culture is vibrant, and college takes part in annual inters nit competitions. The ragging culture is still highly prevalent though and you may find a lot of restrictions on yourself in the first year.
