Indian Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Ahmik Virani

I am a student of the engineering science which is relatively a new branch. It allows us to choose our own specialization after 2 years. So, I liked the branch and chose the college as my rank also fit in correctly. Also, the institute is close to my house, so it is convenient as well. My teachers at my coaching center also recommended this. So, combination of all these aspects I chose this college and branch. My experience so far has been good. I have taken part in various events and volunteered for many. I am even coordinator now in various clubs which makes me happier.

I am part of engineering science department. Based on CGPA criteria we can choose a specialization in any of the other branches after two years. However, the academic pressure builds up as after 3 semesters they start sending the form to choose specialization. The courses we have are mostly common with others in first year and in second year we have introductory core courses with most of the departments.

Some of the faculties are really nice but some are not so good. Some faculties especially of the mechanical department do not have good communication skills. The professors of CSE are good and well qualified. Learning from these professors is fun and they also make classes very interactive and interesting. The sports faculty is also very nice and enthusiastic especially the basketball ma'am.

Yes, we do have a Placement Cell in this college. This takes care of the placements and internship companies that take part. They try their level best to improve and increase the companies coming. For example, this year they are collaborating with the finance club so they could get better resumes and attract more finance companies.

Yes, the hostels are well equipped with water coolers and bathrooms. However, sometimes hot water is a problem. However, this is fine as this is only temporary. We also have washing machines at all floors. Each floor there are 30 people divided into 4 pods. Each pod has a washroom. Also, there is radiant cooling technology which really helps during summer.

Majority of the campus is still under construction; however, the part that is made is very nicely and uniquely constructed. The sports complex is not opened yet but from the outside looks very big and attractive. Apart from that, we have a temporary sports complex where all our sports activities take place. The academic blocks are well equipped with AC’s and never get hot. It is always pleasant there and the vibes are good. There is a guest house which too is very nice stay.

Overall, the campus life is good. Sometimes it gets hectic, however more often it is nice and chill. We have enough time to play sports, study, hit the gym, hang out with friends and what not. The seniors are very chill and nice. The clubs make the life better- we have social as well as technical clubs. There are also various events going on throughout the year which makes it more engaging. Also, there is an annual fest as well. We can also walk around at night it is very pleasant and fun time. The weather sometimes gets hot during the day but apart from that it's fine.
