NIT Durgapur Experience

Overall Rating
NIT Durgapur is one of the oldest technical colleges in India; formerly known as REC Durgapur, it has proven itself from time to time by providing good engineers to the society. In current state, it is a good college with ample opportunities out there. Although it's not the best NIT but still has managed to live up to the NIT brand.
 

Academics Rating
The college takes admission through your JEE mains rank via JOSAA counseling process. If you have the required rank, you will get admission here. You can check previous year’s cutoff for that. The city of Durgapur has all the necessary requirements available, markets are nearby, and the closest metropolitan city will be Kolkata.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty here is just like anything you will witness in other colleges. Some are really good while some can be tough to understand but most of them are extremely helpful for career advice and future prospects. If you can study well then you will not face any problem here. At the end of the day, you need to set a goal and study diligently. College will help you with the basics.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, we have our Career Development Cell which is constantly in pursuit to bring good companies to campus. You can expect a placement percentage of at least 75%.
 

Hostel Rating
Most of the hostel conditions are not up to the mark but for 1st years and 2nd years you will get good hostels for residence.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is overall good here but some of the labs are in poor condition. But it won't matter much if you can suit yourself. The major problem is that the infrastructure is not enough to be properly utilized by all the students given the huge batch size. You need to struggle to properly use them to the fullest.
 

Campus Rating
Best thing about NIT is the people you surround with. All have been good students in the past and also for co-curricular activities there is a huge number of opportunities out there. There is at least one club for sure that will conduct activities of your interests, and these are required for character development. There are a lot of fests that take place but the major 2 are Aarohan the tech fest and Recstacy the cultural fest.

    NIT Durgapur is located in the city of steel plants of West Bengal that is Durgapur. It has a well-maintained green campus with pine trees and different diversity of flora and fauna.   • How I Felt at NIT Durgapur

    Firstly, NIT Durgapur is one of the prestigious colleges of India. Courses like CSE, Electrical, Electronic and Communication, Metallurgy and many more branches are there. For taking admission in this college, one should have to clear the JEE main examination with good rank. And also, in 12th 75+ percentages required for taking admission in this college.     The NIT is situated in not very distant part of the city, but it will seem like it because the college is spread over 187 acres. I have been on campus for more than 1.5 years and there are still some places that I haven't visited in the campus, well that another topic. The overall college is more than 7.2/10. The locals of Durgapur are nice and have great character, but some shopkeepers will try to scam you in the campus I don't know whether it is they have to or they just want to and that's the...     I would rate this institute 4 out of 5. As the institute has a good infrastructure, good research culture and a better campus life than most of the colleges. There are several facilities are offered by the colleges, later on I have mentioned it. But talking about the placement I think there are some NITs which provide better placement record than it at the same level.   • Nit durgapur is a good campus and hostel facility

    I knew that the biotechnology department is very good in NIT Durgapur, so I wanted to choose NIT Durgapur. In this college hostel facility are also good. Placement are great in this college and a lot of companies and organization visit for campus placement. There are 14 hostels, 10 for boys and 4 for girls. Hostels are very good in this Institute....
