How good is NIT, DGP?

Overall Rating
My overall experience from NIT, Durgapur is that it's a vibrant and open college. The campus is good and maintained well. I chose NIT because it has a good NIRF ranking and is one of the good and old NITS for Mechanical Engineering. The workshops though here are quite old but you can get hands-on experience on the equipment used in industries.
 

Academics Rating
Mechanical Engineering is a course which prepares a person to be able to handle technical stuff which is related to coding and electronics equipment though not in depth to operating machines and the mechanism that governs them. It builds the gap between idea and reality by making the most feasible and practical equipment suitable for executing the task. Requires a decent JEE Mains rank for general category (less than 30K).
 

Faculty Rating
The teaching faculty is a mixture of old and new generation professor. Although the older professors are strict and adhere to the standards of the past, they show us how the older generation builds things which last a lifetime and fulfill their duty to the best. The newer professors are the most on student’s level of understanding and they introduce concepts and terms and provoke new innovations.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, the Career and Development Cell of our college (CDC) really helps the students by providing the necessary information and setting contacts with various firms for betterment of the students and the future wellbeing of the country.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, we have dedicated hostels for each year (1st to 4th year) as well as separate hostels for B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D etc. for boys. Girls have their hostels in a separate complex. There is even an international hostel for outside India residents. Almost all the hostels have their own mess.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The buildings here are quite old, though their architecture could be marveled when they were first built. Renovation works are going around this year followed by the construction of a new laboratory related building with state-of-the-art equipment to be installed along with auditoriums and sports facilities to encourage students to excel not only in studies but also in other activities.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is very much new. There are a variety of clubs which bring about the hidden talent in you and help you nourish yourself with the innate workings which one never knew before. A variety of cultural fests and technology fests are held annually to showcase the brilliant minds and talented individuals to a platform ready to take on the world.

    NIT Durgapur is located in the city of steel plants of West Bengal that is Durgapur. It has a well-maintained green campus with pine trees and different diversity of flora and fauna.   • How I Felt at NIT Durgapur
     

    Overall Rating
    Firstly, NIT Durgapur is one of the prestigious colleges of India. Courses like CSE, Electrical, Electronic and Communication, Metallurgy and many more branches are there. For taking admission in this college, one should have to clear the JEE main examination with good rank. And also, in 12th 75+ percentages required for taking admission in this college.     The NIT is situated in not very distant part of the city, but it will seem like it because the college is spread over 187 acres. I have been on campus for more than 1.5 years and there are still some places that I haven't visited in the campus, well that another topic. The overall college is more than 7.2/10. The locals of Durgapur are nice and have great character, but some shopkeepers will try to scam you in the campus I don't know whether it is they have to or they just want to and that's the...     I would rate this institute 4 out of 5. As the institute has a good infrastructure, good research culture and a better campus life than most of the colleges. There are several facilities are offered by the colleges, later on I have mentioned it. But talking about the placement I think there are some NITs which provide better placement record than it at the same level.     I knew that the biotechnology department is very good in NIT Durgapur, so I wanted to choose NIT Durgapur. In this college hostel facility are also good. Placement are great in this college and a lot of companies and organization visit for campus placement. There are 14 hostels, 10 for boys and 4 for girls. Hostels are very good in this Institute....
