Honest Review of FIT, Kolkata

Overall Rating
College presents a balanced mix of positive and negative aspects. On the positive side, it offers a conducive classroom atmosphere where students can engage in a variety of activities such as academics, sports, and research projects. However, there are certain downsides to consider. For instance, the accommodation facilities for third and fourth-year students are subpar, and the quality of the mess food leaves much to be desired. While the college provides a favorable learning environment, it's worth noting that a few professors maintain a rigorous approach in their teaching methods.
 

Academics Rating
Within this college, students are presented with an extensive array of academic domains to choose from, including Computer Science, Electronics Communication, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and among others. Meeting the eligibility requirements entails successfully clearing the JEE Main examination. The campus is equipped with numerous laboratories catering to these disciplines. While certain labs boast exceptional equipment and upkeep, it's worth noting that some, particularly those affiliated with the Electrical and Mechanical Departments, are in need of improvements.
 

Faculty Rating
The college's faculty members are generally commendable. In certain departments, the majority of the faculty is not only proficient but also readily supportive. However, it's worth noting that there are specific departments where a few instructors maintain a strict demeanor. The teaching approach overall is effective, providing students with a taste of the distinctive NIT teaching style. Nevertheless, there are exceptions, as a subset of teachers seems to merely recite content from PDFs without much engagement.
 

Placement Rating
Certainly, our institution boasts a dedicated Placement Cell. This resource plays a pivotal role in aiding students to secure employment opportunities by effectively bridging the gap between reputable companies and the student body.
 

Hostel Rating
Sorry, but absence of hostels shapes a distinct college experience, promoting off-campus living and independence. Students engage locally, broadening perspectives. College focuses on academics, extra-curriculars, aiding students in securing accommodations, ensuring a positive, fulfilling experience despite the lack of on-campus housing.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Our current academic building, housing our classes, boasts excellent infrastructure. Lab facilities, however, are of average quality, while hostels showcase impressive construction. While halls 1 to 5 are decent, the remaining exhibit high standards. Individual assessment reveals shortcomings in the Civil and Mechanical Department labs, in contrast to the commendable CSE lab. Rooms provide a pleasant stay.
 

Campus Rating
The college offers limited space and small playgrounds yet maintains a vibrant atmosphere. Despite its compact infrastructure, the lively environment compensates for the lack of extensive facilities, fostering a dynamic and engaging campus experience.
