Amity University B.A Review By Bhavya Kaushal

Amity University is a private university in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It was established in 2005. It was founded by Dr. Ashok K Chauhan. It recognized by UGC. Amity offers courses on campus and through distance mode in various felids. For undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. This university is a part of Amity educational group and has branches and affiliations worldwide.

Admission is very fair, it is based on the marks obtained, written test followed by an interview. Amity has been ranked amongst top university in Asia. It has received ‘premier status’ Accreditation from ASIC, UK.

I was part of Bachelor of Journalism and Mass communication BA (J&MC). It's a three year full-time course. With 9-11 subjects per semester. One will experience a rollercoaster of gigantic syllabus. The educational program was immense, however a great deal pragmatic. Gave bunch of assignments, to set us up for industry. There are few institute of good repute which offers course in journalism and mass communication at graduate level, Amity University is one of them. This degree will help open a lot of job sectors. Therefore one can apply in reputed companies.

You also get a chance to learn foreign languages like German, Spanish, French, Japanese and many more as it is a part of curriculum. Also they give emphases on communication skills and behavioral skill. Amity also gives military training during the course, which is very thrilling.

Journalism and mass communication department consists of 42 highly accomplished faculty members. Each one of them has excellent knowledge and experience in their field. They all are highly qualified. Most of them have done their PhD or are pursuing.

All faculty members are easy to approach. Many of the faculty members have experienced to work at various fields like radio station, news channel and many more areas, who are able to impart practical experience of their relative areas. Which are very helpful to students. University also has visiting faculty professionals who come to provide in-depth practical knowledge of their respective field.

Every year leading organizations and companies come to pick student for placements from different streams. Students get desired placement even before the completion of their course.

Some of the companies like Discovery channel, Times of India, Hindustan Times, Indian Express and various other reputed companies. They recruit the students on handsome packages ranging from INR 3 Lacs per annum to Rs. 18 Lacs. The placement cell of Amity University works hard to place all the students with prominent organizations. The interview process is conducted in campus itself. The placement cell makes sure that students get a good and fair chance to showcase their suitability for the position.

Amity has in campus hostel facility, for students coming from outside. There is separate hostel for both boys and girls. Also you have option to choose whether you want AC or non Ac hostel room, the fees structure of hostel varies from this. The hostels have good bio-metric security system, with provision of CCTV. The hygiene is very well maintained in hostel and its washroom.

Hostelers have access to two mess and also fast food outlets like Subway, Dominos, Dosa plaza, CCD, etc. They have options to choose whatever they feel like to have. The menu of mess gets changed each day. There is in campus gym for hostelers and W H Smith (daily utility shop). There is a fruits shop and a salon for all students.

Amity has humongous campus (its spread over 4.5 million sq.ft), which includes every possible thing required for the growth and safety of students. Classrooms are fully air-conditioned and spacious, most of them are amphitheatre style. Corridors and stairs were absolutely clean. The campus consists of huge library (56,000 sq. ft) the library is also fully air-conditioned, gym, swimming pool, playground, amity has its own cafeteria with outlets like dominos, cafe coffee day, subway, dosa plaza, and more; there is a salon for student, a gift shop and a proper daily utility store called W.H Smith.

In ASCO (amity school of mass communication) there is huge studio, where students can get some practical hands on camera for photography or videography, radio. To ensure student’s wellbeing amity has great facilities with full time team of doctors available within the campus.

Overall, I would like to state that Amity University has a very tuneful environment, good facilities and good infrastructure. Amity university hosts fest by the name Amity Youth Fest (AYF) held in college. Where various celebrities are invited to perform alongside other amusement activities. In three years of my college life, I encountered no prejudice on the grounds regarding my religion, region, economic status neither any of my mates had to experience any such condition. My seniors in the school were extremely helpful.

Amity has lots of different drives and activities organized like AAGHAZ, rally for rivers, rock and raga for singing, literature, sangathan for sports and amity has its own radio station too. The university is very well linked with Delhi and NCR. Also there is very well connected metro line (blue and magenta). Nearby there are malls and theatres just 10 mins drive from college.
