St. Thomas' College of Engineering and Technology B.Tech Review By Mohona De

I started my journey in this college as a student in the November 2020. Though we were not allowed in the campus for one and a half years due to COVID protocols, we get introduced with all the faculty members of our department as well few from other departments. As soon as the COVID period ended, we started offline classes here. Then I realized how helpful our faculties are in both online and offline mode of education. Our college has a beautiful campus with lots of greenery and large ventilated rooms. Classrooms are equipped with smart projectors and boards. Another great part in STCET is that there is a great scope of experiencing different sports. We have table tennis, badminton, football and cricket teams for each department. It is my great privilege to be a part of this college and for experiencing these great stuffs.

We have five departments - Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. They offer both B.Tech and M.Tech. In case of B.Tech, the selection happens based on WBJEE or JEE Mains rank. CSE have 180 seats capacity, other departments have intake capacity of 60.

Each department has experienced faculty members. Most of them are Ph.D holders. Faculties as well as lab assistants are really helpful. They will guide you whenever you need. Even after the class, if you need special attention on any topics of your curriculum, they will help you. Most of them uses board and refer PPTs for teaching.

We have a Placement Cell. Before the start of campus placements, they arrange different courses on coding and aptitude. This helps to crack exams and interviews.

No, we don't have hostel facilities.

We have a large building with all the departments, classrooms and laboratories. We have a badminton court, large fields for cricket and football. We have one Boys' common room and one Girls' common room and a central library with a variety of books and technical magazines. A canteen is there in the college premises which provide great food.

Overall campus life is great. No ragging. Seniors are really helpful. We have farewell parties which are really engaging and fun. We have a Cultural Cell which organises different cultural programs to accelerate our motivation for study and to enjoy our college life. But our college doesn't organise any sort of cultural fest or so. We have different seminars, workshops and technical exhibitions in our college.
