Overall, IIT Patna is a great institute with amazing placement statistics and internships stats. The institute has state of the art infrastructure in Bihar. My experience of IIT Patna has been great so far. Here we get world class faculties and infrastructures, most importantly the IIT community, i.e. being around the best minds of the nation. Firstly, talking about academics, yes, here at IIT Patna academics is tough. Academic curriculum is designed such that an average IITian can cope up with it. Professors are very good, helpful and highly qualified and have gone through a very rigorous selection process for being a faculty here. College life is pretty good.
