MNNIT Allahabad is known for its placements. It is the best NIT in terms of placements with an average package of 20.17 LPA overall and 27.53 LPA is the average package of the CSE Branch which is more than what is offered at the top ranked NITs like NIT Trichy, Warangal, Suratkal, etc. NIT Allahabad is the first engineering college in India which introduced Computer Science branch even before IIT and that is why it has a great coding culture. Culrav is the cultural fest and Avishkar is the tech fest and both are organised at a great level with good funding and sponsors. The MNNIT has 222 acres of lush green campus but the buildings are a bit older and few classes are not in very well conditions.

MNNIT offers 7 branches namely CSE, ECE, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Production and Industrial, and Biotechnology. For admission one has to qualify JEE Mains with a good rank as cut off for CSE and ECE is quite high. One should have a minimum of 75% in the 12th grade. Some professors put emphasis on 75% attendance whereas some are lenient. The institute is known to have tough academics but you can easily score good grades if you start studying one week before exams. Workshop condition is not that good.

There are many professors at the institute. Faculty is well qualified most of the professors have done their PhD from IITs. They have a great experience and good knowledge of the subjects. My advice is that you should not only be dependent on the teachers and so some self study as well otherwise it can become difficult for you.

As I have mentioned earlier that this institute is known for its placements and for this it comes in top 7 in India including IITs. The overall average package is 20.17 LPA with the highest package being 1.35 CPA and 8 students got placements of 83 LPA in Atlassian. The average package of the CSE branch is 27.53 LPA with a median package of 25.5 LPA which is greater than most of the IITs and NITs. About 380 companies visit the campus for the placement drive and about 95.5% students got placed. Almost everyone who is willing to get placement gets a job easily if you are in MNNIT.

MNNIT has different hostels for students belonging to different years. It has 6 hostels for boys and 3 hostels for girls. For 1st year boys MNNIT has SVBH hostel with well furnished triple sharing rooms, 24 hours electricity, purified water, washrooms, and canteen. The 2nd year students are allotted Patel and Tilak Hostels. These hostels are a bit old and 2 people live in a room with a cupboard and a table for each student. The Tandan and Malviya Hostels are for the 3rd year students. The best hostel is allotted to the 4th year students. It is the newly built hostel and has 14 floors. It has well furnished rooms with all the latest facilities. Only vegetarian food is served in the mess and it is very healthy and tasty.

As the institute was established in 1961 it has an old and poor infrastructure. There is a lack of classrooms in college. Some of the classrooms are too older. Hall for orientation and fest is too small with a capacity of only 800 students and a single batch has 1050 students. Library is also less spacious and sometimes it becomes difficult to get hard copy of the books issued as books are less and students are very much.

Campus life is quite average. Although the campus area is 222 acres but there is a tunnel which divides the campus in two parts. In one part there are the girls’ hostels, faculty apartments, and guest houses and boys are not allowed at this side of the campus. So, technically only 50 acres is for the boys to freely roam around. The college is situated in Allahabad which is not a very well developed city so it does not have a night life and we cannot enjoy much. There is a market only 200 meters away from the college so the students can get all the necessary items they need. MNNIT has few cafes inside the campus which offer food at reasonable prices but the variety is limited.
