Shree Agrasain College B.Com Review By Bhumika Sultania

I am a second-year student of Shree Agrasain College, Howrah. This college was established in the year 2002, with affiliations with the most prestigious Calcutta University. The college may not be ranked in India's top college list as compared to other institutions in the areas of Howrah and the nearby district, my college is the best. But unfortunately, my college does not have any accreditations from any international universities. But the reason why I choose this college is that conveyance is available at its ease, a student can travel by local trains free of cost or by buses. Shree Agrasain College is a self-financed college that is being established with the motive for fulfilling the need for professional studies in the area of Howrah. It is a unit of a charitable trust, Shri Radha Krishna.

When it comes to the admission process, it's very simple from other institutions. There is no entrance examination to appear for to take admission. Your need is just to have a strong build class 12th mark sheet. To get admission to Honors courses, you need to have a minimum of 70% of the aggregate marks, whereas, for general courses, you need to fulfill 50% of the total marks.

The overall academics in our college is good. There are just a few faculties who are not clear about what they are teaching. As my college holds affiliations with Calcutta University, the syllabus is huge and vast. One cannot clear the university examination until he/she has not done self-study at their homes. I have joined B.Com (Hons) course in Shree Agrasain College, where the syllabus is completed by most teachers at its earliest so that students get to revise their topics and clear their doubts with the respective teachers.

The college has a big library where several subjects books, storybooks, inspiring books are available. The college offers to borrow books from the library to study and renew it every month. As I got a total of 4 library cards I can take 4 books for the month without any fine. For science students, the college offers well-equipped computer and science labs with all modern facilities. When internals examinations come close, professors start telling them to study as internals matters the most, but truly speaking, internals doesn't matter, just need to give internal examination so that when it comes to admitting card distribution, no problem arises.

When you compare my college with other high-class institutions, the faculties of Shree Agrasain College is good. The teachers are always there for the student to make them understand everything properly. Some professors are also there who take numerous presentations to build our confidence and make our topics strong. As Shree Agrasain College only provides the bachelor degree course, the scope of getting a job from outside is low. For my course, there are 8 to 10 faculties available who take different topics of different subjects.

Overall faculties of my college will be approx 30 to 40 in numbers. But not every faculty of our college is good enough to make you pass your examinations. With some teachers, you can have voice understanding issues and with some, you will feel like why should I come and get admitted here. The attendance of Shree Agrasain College as told by professors will be compulsory to have 75%, but seriously speaking, there is no compulsion to attend college regularly and get up to 75% attendance, and it's just there for presenting the college as a good institution.

My college has everything but no placement wing to make students get a job. Unfortunately, they don't have any tie-ups with any corporate and companies through which students get placed after they complete courses. To get a job and secure their future, students need to search outside for job prospects. It's not easy to get a job by just pursuing a bachelor's degree and so what my college provides. Although students are capable enough and have enough knowledge to crack a job.

But if the students have gained immense knowledge from their lectures regarding their course, it's become easy for them to crack a good job outside the college even after just pursuing a bachelor's degree. Students can also choose to have some side by side course so that at the end of the course, they can crack the interview and start their job life

Just like placement, Shree Agrasain College does not have any hostel to accommodate their students outside of Howrah. The college management needs to establish a hostel building on the college premises to make sure the students from outside the district of Howrah are safe.

But still, there are many other facilities available nearby college which accommodates students in a better environment. One can choose to stay in various PGs, ready to move flats, apartments, and more.

Shree Agrasain College is very huge. The college has well-equipped labs, a cafeteria, sports room, playground, green garden, basketball court, stage to host the events, and more. The college also has an auditorium but it's under construction. College provides air-conditioned classrooms and labs to the students and teachers. The college is also planning to build another building too. The college works in two shifts i.e. morning shift for girls and afternoon shift for co-ed and has separate rooms to spend time for both girls and boys. The staff rooms for the teachers are also big and air-conditioned.

I will give a 10/10 infrastructure score for my college. The college provides the experience of world-class infrastructure for its students. The college also provides an excursion facility to its final year students to a science museum, educational tours, amusement parks, and more. The emergency and medical facilities are also available during college hours. My college is also best at providing workshops, seminars to all the students at the national level.

Apart from all facilities, my college life is very awesome and cool. Every student you find in the college mostly speaks Bengali or Hindi language. The college keeps organizing some sports and cultural events at regular intervals so that the students do not feel bored and can enjoy their college life. The cafeteria and sports room are the places where students need to spend most of the time gossiping and making fun. Whenever I have a free lecture or sometimes my group bunks the lecture and enjoys our time in the garden area under the shade of the tree. The food of the canteen was healthy, hygienic, and made with good ingredients. The tea and Maggie are my perfect combination to spend time while eating and gossiping in the canteen.

The college organizes its annual fest "Agrostav" in December every year which is the most memorable evening of our college lives. Last year Dr. Jagdeep Dhankar, governor of West Bengal joined us in the Agrostav as the chief guest. Overall I am enjoying my college days at their best and if you want to spend your college days surrounded by cultural and sports events, then Shree Agrasain College will be best for you.
