NIT Surathkal comes under the top 2 NITs in India. The best part of the college is that the seniors here are very friendly but sometimes there is a language problem the people speaking Kannada, Tamil, and Telugu do not understand Hindi, so most of the time we have to converse in English. The college has its own private beach and it is so wonderful. The college is very beautiful and located at an amazing place in Karnataka. There is a Krishna Temple nearby that is so amazing.

The schedule is very hectic especially in the first year as the Math subject is quite tough. It will be very easy if you do daily revision for 30 minutes. Exams are conducted in a way like first Quiz 1, then Mid-semester, then Quiz 2, and then finally End-semester Exam. You will not have much gap for revision as back to back papers are conducted. The professors here are very serious about attendance and it has to be minimum 75%. If the attendance is not maintained then they might leave you by warning in the first semester but then you will be given the FA Grade. The passing marks for the semester exams are 20. In the first semester you will have crucial subjects like Mathematics1, Chemistry, Chemistry Lab, Mechanics, Programming (C and Python), Design Thinking, and PSC. Similarly in the second semester you will have Mathematics2, Physics, Physics Lab, Professional Communication, and Ethics ECE and EEE are also there. For every semester you will have to do the registration online.

Some professors are so chill and very calm in a way that their teaching and copy checking is also very lenient. Whereas, some teachers are very strict and if you do not maintain attendance in the classes of those strict professors then will easily fail you in the semester.

The placements at NIT K are very good. Recently, the highest package for CSE was 57 LPA and the average package was 27 LPA. The placement percentage was 99.2%. The IT department is also amazing as the placements in this branch were 100%. The average package for the ECE and EEE branches was 20 LPA. AI and CDS are the new branches so there is no placement data yet. The other non-crucial branches like Chemical, Mechanical, Metallurgy, and Mining had an average package of 13 LPA with 90-95% placements. Only 73% placements were done in the Civil Branch.

Hostel is average at the college. In the 1st year you will allotted the Block 3 – Vindhya Boys and Block 7 – Shayadri. During the summer season there remains a water problem in the Block 3. A new hostel building was being constructed but it was not completely ready due to COVID, but from this year onwards the new batch will be allotted the new hostel block. Infrastructure development is very good in NIT K.

In NIT K infrastructure is so good. Firstly you will admission in the college and your semester will be conducted in the LHC A Block which is an average building. From the second semester onwards your classes will be conducted in the CIDS Block which is such an amazing building. The other departments like CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, etc. have very nice infrastructure. The Metallurgy and Mining Departments have average buildings. Overall the infrastructure is very good.

The campus life in NIT K is so good. NIT K private beach is also there where you can go in the evening and chill. Old and new sports complexes are there. There are 30+ clubs there like IEEE, ACM, ISTE, etc. NIT K fest is so amazing and it is conducted in the month of March every year. There is also a Music Club, a Dance Club, and a Social Welfare Club.
