Life and academics at RVCE Bangalore

Overall Rating
My experience in R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore has been pretty decent. Honestly, I am not a big fan of the campus and its location as it is in the outskirts of the Bengaluru city, but it is metro connected. The campus is pretty small just like most other colleges in Bengaluru. The crowd here is nice as they are top scorers in KCET and COMEDK and the diversity is also pretty nice.
 

Academics Rating
To get into RV College you need to clear your 12th with more than 60% marks and a rank of less than 2,000 (COMEDK) for decent branches. If you want to get into CS and IS, then a rank of less than 400 is required. For EC around 1,000 -1,200 is required. If you get into any of these three branches and study well you'll get a decent package and if you are really good the opportunities are huge.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty here is mediocre I would say. Some experienced faculty is really good. They will help you whenever needed regarding college academics and even in minor projects and any other projects if you are interested. The faculty is not very lenient when it comes to behavior and attendance and if you get along with them, they are pretty useful.
 

Placement Rating
The placements of the college are pretty good (on par with tier-2 nits). The placements for CS and IS are very good with around 15 LPA as the average CTC, for EC it is around 11 LPA, and around 6 – 8 LPA for other branches. The highest package this year has gone up to 62 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
The college hostels are average. In the first year you'll get a room for three, in second and third year a room for two, and in the final year you will get an independent room. The fee currently is around 1.2 LPA including the food. Food quality is nice and the taste is decent. If you aren't interested you can go for any PGs or apartments where it will almost cost the same.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The college is pretty small and most of the campus is under construction or renovation (whole EC department). The sports complex is demolished and a new one is being built which will take around 1-2 years. The labs use devices being used in the current market without any problems and there are centers for excellence in various fields which provide good extra knowledge if you get into any project. The canteen is nice with decent prices and all varieties of food.
 

Campus Rating
The college has a good diversity of students from the north as well as the south. There are clubs for all kinds of things (debates, music, dance, sports, and e-cell) and technical clubs which are doing pretty well in competitions competing with tier-1 colleges of India. The main fest of the college is called 8th mile and it comes every two years. And there is another fest organized by e-cell every year which is pretty good.

    I joined this college in the year 2023 for BE course through KCET. I chose this college because in Karnataka it has the name of best engineering college and it has one of the best placement rates etc. The college is good and the infrastructures, academics and overall life in this college is good.
