Shyam Lal College B.Com Review By Prateek

Shyam Lal College is a part of Delhi University and located in Shahdara, the institution has both morning and evening classes. Although the experience was good but I opted for this college because it is nearest to my house. I was eligible to take admission in other colleges also but I chose this because I am a CA student so it is very time saving for me. There is not much strictness for attendance and you can also give practical during the end of the semester and can give papers with 0% attendance as well.

I am in B. Com Honors 2nd year as of now and to get admission to this course you must be in the commerce stream. But at my time, the enrolment was done by considering the marks of 12th class. Now, you have to give the CUET exam to take admission. Also the motive of enrolling in this course is to get a bachelor's in commerce which will provide me knowledge of many fields like finance and economics.

When it comes to the faculty, it's quite average. They are only concerned with their course completion. The teachers are highly qualified and from very strong backgrounds. The only thing I liked is that they accept your internals or practical even if you don't attend classes and mark you accordingly.

To be fair and honest, I won't suggest anyone to take placements from here because the opportunities provided aren't that lucrative and career defining. One should only have a target to claim the degree with the maximum CGPA.

As this college is quite old so the infrastructure is old as well. It is not very good to be honest but earlier a new building was constructed which is good. The classrooms are not clean, canteen is not that good, benches and chairs are so old school, no good toilets only playing area is so wide and great but we are not allowed to play there.

Campus life is quite average, crowd is not good to be honest as I feel because their backgrounds are not that good according to the standards, fests are organised but very rarely and not that lucrative like private colleges, clubs are operating but students don't give much importance to them and other engagement activities are going on but it doesn’t have that big impact as no one gives them importance.
