Honestly saying, I lived my best life at MANIT Bhopal during my B.Tech. The reason I chose this institute was that I wanted to get into a top-notch NIT with a great exposure. In JEE Main 2018, my rank was good enough to get into other good institutes like NIT Warangal and NIT Surathkal, but MANIT is in my own state, so I chose this institute. Placements, campus life, and everything is in good situation here. I would rate my overall experience here 9.5 out of 10, and I would suggest this institute to those who wish for securing a good placement in B.Tech.

At MANIT Bhopal, I chose Mechanical Engineering branch as I was highly interested in working of machinery. I had scored 5237 All India rank in JEE Main but in general case, if you’re all India rank is between 10000 to 15000 for open category (other state), you are on the safe side to get the same branch here till 7th round of JoSAA counseling. Academics is more or less similar to other NITs, but however the best thing here is that the department organises frequent workshops and industrial visits to maintain the interest of students in their own branch. Moreover, like other North-Indian NITs, a 75% attendance criteria is followed here.

The experience with faculty was okay for me. And, it’s my own opinion that the behavior of faculty varies from branch to branch. In mechanical engineering, professors were not that strict as compared to those in CSE and Civil department. But the down point I felt about faculty is that their way of teaching and even subjects are not up to date and not aligned with the industry requirements.

As I already mentioned that MANIT is known for its high placement statistics and top-notch companies that visit here for placements and internships. Placement cell is highly active on LinkedIn and it's always in talks with companies to bring better job opportunities for students. During our placement season, more than 136 students got placed in top MNCs with good package. I was fortunate enough that I got placed at Tata Motors. Microsoft offered the highest package of 42 LPA to 6 students. Some top-notch recruiters were Adobe, Amazon, Bloomberg, Codenation, DE Shaw, Facebook, Google, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan and many more. Many public-sector undertaking companies (PSUs) like- BPCL, C-Dot, Coal India, DRDO, etc. hired students from here. Those who have deep passion in teaching domain, coaching institutes like Resonance Eduventures, Akash Institute, Byju's visit MANIT for hiring.

Hostel blocks at MANIT were good and they were equipped with common halls for recreational activities. Hostel fee per semester comes around Rs. 20,000 to 25000 excluding mess charges. It depends upon the type of room you are talking (3, 2 or 1-seater). In most of the colleges, mess food is always a problem, but here the food was really good beyond my expectations. Mess menu used to be revised time to time and mess committee makes sure that students get good food.

Since MANIT is among the oldest NITs and it was established in 1960, so many buildings are old. But, for a few departments like Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, newly constructed academic buildings are allotted. Apart from academic blocks, amenities centre for extra-curricular activities, indoor and outdoor sports complexes, and an auditorium with a capacity of 1000 is also there at MANIT. Campus of this institute is counted among the NITs with largest campus area. The best thing is the campus is located in the city itself and has a good connectivity with railway station and the airport.

Campus life and college culture is the thing that nobody should forget while selecting a college. MANIT has a vibrant and lively college life. Every year, 3-4 fests are organised and students get chance to explore something beyond the boring academics. Cultural fests are normally good in almost all the popular NITs but here, technical fests also have their own craze among students. In cultural fests, celebrity concerts, rap battles, DJ night, EDM show, etc. are main attractions for crowd. I witnessed the concert of Bollywood singers like Astha Gill, Gajendra Verma, Darshan Raval, etc. Music concerts happen twice in a year. Many times, stand-up comedy shows are also organised here. These fests are sponsored by many famous companies. Apart from fests, college campus has a great exposure and those who are good at sports, can excel themselves in sports complex and showcase their sportsperson spirit in inter-NIT competitions.
