IIIT Bhagalpur is an institute of national importance. It carries forwards its legacy of excellence after the IITs and the NITs. IIT Guwahati is our mentor institute. Many a times alumni and faculties from the IIT Guwahati come here for meeting and guiding us. It is a small campus compared to other old IIITs, but it is full of green lush and feels like home to us. We have the Ganga river near our college; I sometimes go out with my friends over there for chilling. It is a tier 1 college of India. Better than some of the best private institutes in the country, right now. It is a new IIIT with a new campus.

The academics here are really good and I think the curriculum needs to be modified a bit to inculcate the labs in a more productive way. The admission to the college is only on the basis of JEE Mains examination. You need to score around 97 to 98 percentile in the former examination to secure a seat here. As IIIT Bhagalpur is a new college, there are currently only three branches that are Computer, Electronics and communication and mechatronics, which is a fusion of the core branches, mechanical and electronics. I am in the Computer Science department. The mentor institute provides us with all the academic help along with helping the committee in forming the curriculum for the semesters. The semester papers are sometimes, rarely, conducted by the IIT Guwahati and it feels intense pride to me, as I am writing the exam of the best institute in the country. The number of intake students is less, almost 60 per department. My motive for enrolling in computer science was, because of my passion towards technology and computers from a very young age. I love to do coding in my free time and make some awesome projects. Ours is the fifth batch to be graduated from the college.

There are a limited, almost a 20 faculties are there in the college. But they have a very deep understanding of the concepts they teach. Some of them are very strict and rude, but are much disciplined in their work. Many of them are ex IIT and NIT faculties. They too have their graduation and after careers from these institutes.

Yes there is a cell that keeps the records of the placements and trainings in the campus. The highest package offered was 45 lac per annum. Total 300 plus offers and 150 plus internship offers were given this year. The placement statistics are very good, the cell looks to maximize it and provide jobs to each and every student in the batch. The average package offers is 12 lac per annum which is the highest average, which was given to the computer science department. The top recruitment companies that are invited and visited our campus Samsung, Tata, Nykaa, Amazon, Microsoft, Synopsis and Triology. Capgemini was the company that recruited the highest number of students from the campus.

Yes, there are residential facilities made available. But some of them are temporary and some of them are outside the campus, due to the construction of the new permanent campus going on. There are not so far away, it will be a 5 minute walk from the hostel to the lecture halls. There is a computer room in many hostels with very good speed wi-fi. There are separate hotels for boys and girls. The mess food is not that good; I sometimes prefer not to eat breakfast from there as I don't like the taste much over there. But, many menus are made; there are 8 to 10 menus, each for a day. Yes, it is fixed and sometimes we do have special dinner made during festivals. There are around 30 rooms in each hostel with three floors. Each room is double bedded and is allocated to the students on the basis of their CPI. Water and power supply is there 24 by 7. A TV room is also there. A playground is provided at the backside of the hostel where we all friends chill at night and play games.

There is a main library called the Vikramashila library with a huge set of books. There is a central Computer center. Many conference rooms are made for club discussions and other formal meetings. There is a guest house for participants, guests and sometimes for parents. Medical facilities are available; there is a special small hospital in the campus. There are many banks and atms available. During the Covid period, virtual classrooms were made for faculties and students to attend the lectures and they need not come to campus during the hard period. There are all types of sports facilities available with high class sports equipment in the store room of the college.

As the college is new, it is only a few years since its start. And most of the students are freshers; there are few clubs in the college. They are not so developed as the IITs but are many a times mentored by the IIT club members. Still every member of the club is working hard to make themselves established and have a good report in competitions in the inter as well as intra college leagues. There were IDPT wars held in the month of December last year. It was the third year it was being conducted, as due to covid no events were organized. The electronics and communication department won the war with a 250 points lead over our department. But still, we are proud of the efforts we made there, as we were also busy in scheduling and managing these all events, while the other departments were given other duties. As the college is located in Bihar state, many students come from there and I am from other state. So I was somewhat nervous to open out with them. But slowly, with time now they are very good friends of mine and I cherish those moments spent with them. The new campus is coming up so hopefully there will be more and bigger events happening and will enjoy stay over there.
