Institute of Engineering and Technology M.Tech Review By Shivam Jaiswal

When I first walk in Institute of Engineering and Technology Lucknow it felt like I had entered in a whole new world because college is very huge and it has much to offer for the students. Since the institute is the part of the AKTU University so we experience all the happening in the college. Overall this college is above average and not so good because some of its aspects are not so good and there are some flows in the college like poor management and no up gradation of the college since I joined the institute and I also did not expose the whole college since my second year in the institute was online and I missed the most of the college life. I choose this college because it was the best institute that I was getting based on my rank in the GATE exam so I take this institute. Other can join this college if they want a good college which has a good placements backup in the institute.

There were only four semesters in my course which was Masters of Technology in Structural Engineering and it was a trending course when I joined IET Lucknow and it has a great scope and still has the great scope in the future generation. In my course there were thirty students and all of them appeared for the GATE exam and after that we came to the college for the further process. Talking about the academic pressure then I feel that the academic pressure is very less and we can easily qualify the semester exam even after studying only fifteen days before the exam timing. Best thing is that there are no attendance criteria in the college and we can go to the class whenever we want to go attend the lecture. My motivation for the structure engineering was that I want to be a professor in my life so I am planning to get a PhD degree now.

All of the faculty members of my department were very good and supportive and many of them were doing their own research work and they are working in the future technologies. In my program most of the subjects were practical based and to do a practical we should have a theoretical knowledge of the subjects and we have to study the subjects on our own and we contact the teacher only when we have some doubt in the subjects. Every faculty has good academic background and all of them have qualified the UGC NET exam to get into the college. Teaching style of the faculty of civil engineering is decent and we can understand what they are teaching. In my department there were 15 faculty members and all of them were very cooperative and they were very good in their subjects.

Although the department of the civil engineering did not have the good placement history yet there are some good companies like Larson and Turbo that visit the campus. In my batch 17 out of 30 students got placement from good companies. But many students did not go for the placements like me because I wanted to for the higher studies and I plan to get a good college for my PhD. But in other branches related to computer, placements are really good and in my last year in the college department of the computer science engineering registered the hundred percent placements in the institute and the highest package was of 44 LPA offer by the Amazon which is e-commerce company for the software engineer profile and average package in my college was around 9 LPA.

Yes, I reside in the college hostel since I had no choice because students are not allowed to live outside the campus hostel and there are some good resources in the college hostels. Since every students lives inside the hostel so we have a good interaction with the students and there is much to do in the college hostel because there are good environment in the college. Free Wi-Fi facility is available in the college and we can also get the cooler in the summer. Washrooms are in good condition but I feel that room are very small for students and after settling the beds very few space is there in the room. We have two choices inside the mess like one is veg food and other one is non veg food and the charge for the both is same. Hostel fee including the mess charges is around Rs. 45,000 per year for a double seater room.

There are many places in the campus where you can go and chill and sometimes I feel that students should have cycles to travel inside the campus since the college area is huge since the college is connected to the Dr A P J Abdul Kalam University. Academic blocks are old fashioned and the quality of the architecture is average and the classes is good and we do not bound to visit the classes every day and we can decide when to go to the class. College has greenary and there is also environment related department in the college which take care of the cleaning and the plantation in the institute. There are many hostels in the campus for boys and girls and the surrounding area of the campus is also very good and we can get a good market near the college.

Talking about the life at IET then I can say that it offer much freedom than other colleges and we can explore many things in the college without any limitations from the college faculties. And best thing in the campus is that we can do whatever in college time whether preparation for any exam or do some extracurricular activities since there was no attendance mandates. Other than this another thing which is good in the institute is that the event are organized by the students only it has less to do with the college management and we have very less to deal with the higher management. Clubs are in abundance in the college and every club is managed by the college students with some financial support from the college. Many fests happen in the institute all of them are full of sponsors.
