Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College MBBS Review By Abhijeet Mohapatra

Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital is a new college opened in Mayurbhanj. Even among new colleges, this one is absolutely great and already very advanced with many facilities. I chose this college for its academic facilities and assistance provided by faculties. Also the college has very good surrounding environment appropriate for studying.

MBBS is 5.5 years course with 4.5 years of studies and 1 year of mandatory internship. To get enrolled in the college, one must qualify and secure the cutoff rank in NEET entrance examination. The person must have scored above 75% marks in 12th and attended the counseling process after the declaration of NEET results. My motive for enrolling into the college is to become a good doctor and serve for the cause of the nation.

There are a decent number of faculties present to teach the course except the non clinical subjects like anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. Other than that there are enough faculties to take care of the students' educational needs and doubt clearing. All the teachers have completed both MBBS and PG in the subjects they are teaching. The style of teaching followed by the teachers is usually a mix of both digital and blackboard teaching. Teachers use slides and projector to showcase us the material via PowerPoint presentation and simultaneously use the blackboard for more elaborate explanation and concept relay. I find this technique very unique and at same time very fruitful.

Our college provides hostel facilities to students. There is more than enough space for entire 125 students of each batch into the hostel. The hostel has 5 floors and the ground floor consisting of a garage for keeping vehicles. The hostel has mess facility to provide meals to the residing students. The food is nutritious and healthy. The hostel also has lift to reach higher floors with ease. There are hostels for UG boys, girls and for Interns as well as the Resident doctors.

The campus has academic blocks of all different subjects discreetly. There are labs and very good lab facilities for students. We also have an auditorium for conducting functions and events. We have a cadaver lift for storing the cadavers for dissection. We also have library which has various books from various known authors.

The campus life is very good. The interaction with staff and students is very nice. The college also holds various festivals like Ganesh Puja, Saraswati Puja, Diwali and Holi, etc. The college holds an annual function called the Elixir which is the biggest event of the college. Different clubs/society hold their respective events like academic fest, cultural fest, dramatic fest, sports event, art competition and many more to involve the students. The college also provides many sports opportunities and facilities.
