Harcourt Butler Technical University, Kanpur is a Uttar Pradesh Government Technical University and it is also called HBTU and it is divided into two campuses as East campus and West campus and. I initially affiliated to AKTU but in 2016 it became independent technical university approved by AICTE and it is rated A by NAAC. My college life in HBTU was great because this institute is known for its extracurricular activities and study at the same time because the students here do excel in sports and studies both. The main thing about the HBTU is its alumni network because it has more than 5000 members working in good companies and they are ready to help you out in free out. I choose this university because of it was highly recommended to me by my relative and I would also recommend it to the other students for the experience this university provide to the students because no other university can give that exposure in terms of study and events both in the same college life.

I was get selected in the Electrical Engineering in my counselling and I study a lot of subjects in this course and most of the subjects were theory with numerical and there were 6 subjects in one semester and there was total eight semesters in this program and each semester was easy to qualify as per the final exam but to understand the subject with deep understanding then we have to study the semester each day to understand to solve the high level question of the same. To get into HBTU Kanpur we need to appear for the Entrance exam called Joint Entrance Exam on the NTA portal after that counselling process. To become eligible for this we must have done our High school and Intermediate with Science with minimum 60 percentage. I did have good interest in the circuits and machines that is why I took Electrical Engineering branch.

I experience that some of the teacher who was teaching me was good and they teach each topic with good energy. But with some faculties I was unable to understand the concept because I could not understand the way of their teaching although all the teacher that taught us had done their higher studies from very good college and not only the qualification but also they were very experienced and some of them had done job in United States Companies. other than the college faculties there were lot of guest faculties in the university that were from the other colleges around the world and they were just taking classes for the students such that they can know about the teaching culture around the world.

As we get into our final year of the course we become eligible to sit in the recruitment process. Yes A placement cell is available in the HBTU which has more than 20 members for this purpose. Placement cell in the institute not only provide the placement but also they provide good internship opportunities for us so that we can have exposure to the working culture of the companies. Many good companies visit the college with good profiles to offer like Assistant Manager, Software Engineer, Product Analyst, Site Engineer, Graduate Engineer Trainee etc. Average package of the university is 8 LPA overall and in my batch 60 percent students got placed including me which was huge. As the many students I was also got placed in an Information Technology company with 7.95 LPA package. Well there are also some scholarships opportunities are also present in the university like HBTU scholarship which offer 80 to 90 thousand each year.

To live outside the college hostel is allowed with means we can take rooms outside the campus but I would suggest taking college hostel because it is good and affordable for the middle class student. If you take room outside the hostel then we have to pay around 7000 to survive per month but in college hostel we have to just pay 55000 per year with many additional facilities and those facilities are not given to the students who live outside the hostel. Food in the mess is good and we can survive on that food because it is not bad but it can never match the test of home food. Being hostellers we get extra facilities like night stay in the campus and access to college area in night also where we spent time with friend and we do party at night in the campus. But some good rooms are also there outside the campus with good facilities but there price is also high.

Harcourt Butler Technical University is more than 100 year old which make its architecture weak but it makes it student structure very strong and connection between the junior and senior is far superior to the other facility in the campus. There are many great facilities in the university like a huge computer center which has more than 1000 computers inside it and it is connected to then LAN with very high speed of internet. College library is also huge and it had the self study room for the students to sit and study the books. College auditorium is small but it is beautiful and iconic. All type of sports and other facilities is present in the campus with all the coaches and instructors. There is also a central workshop in the university where we can go and complete our projects and other course related works.

Technika is the main technical fest that happens in the HBTU each year for the encouragement of the innovation of the students in their respective field and I had also participated in this fest and win second prize. Agaaz is the main sports fest in which teams from the other university also participate in the different tournaments of the various sports with good quality sports. No the biggest and grandest fest is our cultural fest that happen in the university each year with the participation of the students in different performances in many divisions of the art. Quiz, Drama, Poetry, Dance, Singing, Music, Photography, TEDx, Creative Society, Aarzoo are some of the clubs that are highly active in the HBTU from past many years. Overall culture in the university is very different from the other colleges of the country because here we live a very good and distinct life.
