Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering & Technology B.Tech Review By Prashant Sharma

BIET is connected to the AKTU, Lucknow and it is stretched in the land more than 100 acres. Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering & Technology is also called BIET Jhansi. This college is ranked second in the AKTU after IET Lucknow which is number one AKTU college. When we take admission in the institute in first year we go through the induction program in which we know about all the facilities and clubs and other extracurricular activities that happen in the college. In second year there is a lot of academic pressure and also in the third year and more than the second year. In last year there is no academic pressure and we just have to focus on the final year major project. I choose this institute because this was top ranked institute in AKTU and its campus was huge so I was fascinated by the campus. Everyone we want a good college life with knowledge from good faculty members can join the institute.

When I took admission in the BIET Jhansi at that time I appear for the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam and then after one month of the exam result is announced. After the examination on the UPSEE portal we go through the counselling process which happens in the four stages and I got my college in third stage because I did not get the seat in first and second stage of the counselling. So my advice is that we should get to the fourth stage to get good college. Today all the above mentioned process is done through the JEE Mains exam and then the same process in the NTA portal. After the counselling when you had freeze your seat then we visit the campus for the document checking and after 15 days classes starts. I choose Electrical Engineering because I want to go for the government engineering job and one EE branch can provide good opportunity in the government sector.

BIET is a state technical institute which means it is funded by the Uttar Pradesh Government. Because it is state institute hence all the teachers here are very experienced and all of them done their research and all are scholar and they currently publish their own research papers. One of my teachers has filed 15 patents in their own field and all of his research papers are IEEE approved and this is huge achievement. But some teachers here in the BIET are just come to class to attend the class and they have no intent to teach because their job is secure and they do not want to give any effort to teach the students. Teaching way of majority of the teachers is good and they support the students whom wanted to study. Overall faculty members in the BIET are good and highly qualified with vast experience.

Companies come to campus in 7th semester and most of the company from September to December. But problem with the placements is that companies comes for the computer science students and only very few companies visit institute for the Electrical Engineering Students. Highest package of the institute in 2020 batch was 16 LPA offered by Just Pay for the software development profile and for the Electrical students highest package was 10LPA offered by the Hindustan Unilever for the product management profile. Not all the students in my class placed only 10 students were placed in my class. Placement and Internship department is present in the institute but it mostly provides the Internship opportunity in the summer breaks after completion of each year because it is mandatory according to the curriculum. Placements are not good in the institute as compared to the other private institutes.

Institute is outside the city and it is approx. 5-7 Kilometers away from the city of Jhansi. There are five hostels in the institute for the boys and each hostel is huge. Hostel fee is Rs. 50,000 which is to be submitted in the starting of the year and this is annual fee. There are only three seating rooms are available in the hostel and there is no Air Conditioning in the rooms but I feel it is not required because room are cool in summers. There is one table, bed, almirah, chair and fan and light for the students and there is also old school gym in the institute. Hostels are made in the circular manner and there is common bathroom for 15 students on each floor. There is one mess for one hostel and mess food is average. Since college is outside the city hence there are no good PG are available around the campus and I would advice to live in the college hostel because it give whole lot of different experience than the PG life outside the campus area.

Infrastructure in the institute is decent because college is feeling like jungle since it has a lot of area and less building. College was established in 1986 and it looks like 35 year old. College has many building blocks in which 10 are for hostels and faculty residence and other for the academic management and classes. There is an administration block in the campus which manages all the campus. There are good sports facilities available in the institute. Many grounds are here in the BIET and every ground is dedicated to different sports like cricket and football. Classrooms are good but sometimes I feel that classrooms and other labs lack in the resources because I feel that college is not upgrading itself and not implementing new technologies in the institute.

BIET Jhansi campus environment is very positive and clean since college feel the forest hence its air quality is very good. There is one cultural fest organized in the institute called PRABHANJAN in which we can participate and can perform on the selection and students also try to bring celebrity to come and perform for the students. For the farewell of the final year students one fest called UTSAV happen in the institute in the month of June because this time in the institute all the university exams are over. Since one fest happen for the last year student to tell them farewell hence one fest for the welcoming of the first year students also happen which is called ABHINANDAN and this fest is organized by the second year students. There are several programs that happen for the interaction of junior and senior and that program is foundation for the great college culture. Techmic, Codebaap, Dancengg and welfare society are the famous clubs of the college which is run and managed by the senior students.
