National Institute of Technology M.Tech Review By Dheeraj Kumar

National Institute of Technology, Durgapur is a central government technical institute and it is an independent institute which means it does not follow other universities curriculum and it has its own curriculum. Institute provides numerous opportunities to go for a foreign internship. There are many counselling centers in the institution for the guidance of the students in their respective fields. I choose this institute because I get it in the counselling process on the CCMT portal. I took admission in the institute because I was said by my seniors in my B.Tech that this institute is best for the research work. I feel that other candidates should choose this institute if they want an institute in which they can learn a lot form the teachers.

To be eligible for this course one should have under graduation from any university with minimum 60 percent overall. Fee for both years on the college for M.Tech is 1.2 Lakh. To get admission in NIT Durgapur one should appear in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Exam which happens in the month of February and after that one should go through the counselling process on the CCMT portal. I took admission in this course because I have done graduation in this field. I enrolled in a post graduation course which means there are little theory classes most of the classes were labs in which we have to perform practical in the lab and in each semester we have to done a project. Course is divided in four semesters which are typically 5 month long and in each year we have to the industrial training.

It is a government institute which means all the faculty members are super qualified and they are eager to help you in your project work and also they help in the research work. One of the faculty have also allowed me to study in the library in the night time. There is nothing to study from the teachers in this program because we have to perform all the work by ourselves yet we need the support of the faculty members and they also support us in our all work and they even allow us to ask doubt and can go to their cabin for asking doubt. Teaching style is good and also they teach all the thing in practical form so it is not hard to understand the topic. Labs instructor here are very good and they tell us all about the practical and all the work. Some teacher are not so good because they don't want to teach us well because they just don't want to teach well.

One cell for placements is available in NIT Durgapur but it do not help much in the placements because most of the companies that visit the campus are for the software engineering profile and the reason for this is that software industry is at peak in this time. In my branch there not so much opportunity are available for the students. Placement help in giving us job. Since not so many company visit the campus hence we need to look for the out of campus jobs from various online portals. One good thing that the college does is that they provide good internship opportunities.

Because it is a government institute hence the college hostel fee is minimum we just need to pay Rs. 3,000 per annum for the hostel room fee in which there are fan, table, almirah and bed. Mess is separated from the hostel fee and we have to pay the fee of each day in advance. Roughly one day food fee is 100 per day because mess is managed by a private company. Hostel fee including mess become up to 40000 which is good it is not high. Students are not allowed to stay outside the college hostel that is institute policy. Food in the mess is good and all the food on the menu is also good because they charge good for that. Since there are no day scholars in the institute hence all the students get all the resources of the institute. College is 60 year old hence college hostel are also build in old style and also the buildings of the hostels are also not so good.

National Institute of Technology Durgapur campus infrastructure is good because all the buildings are build in area of 180+ acres. There are many buildings in the campus because college offers more than 20 course. Academic blocks are not well designed and maintained and also all the buildings are not air conditioned. In summer it is hard to stay in the classes because of the temperature in the classroom. Classroom do not have smart boards but they have projectors. There is a big auditorium in the college which is old fashioned and have capacity more than 500. Since campus is huge so we need to take cycle for the transportation in the institute because other vehicles are not allowed. There is very huge library in the institute which has 250000+ book across all the streams. Library also has a huge seating capacity in which we can study till 2 Am in the morning.

Cultural fest does not happen NIT Durgapur and that is not good for the college life. Sports fest happen in the institute in three months in which we participates. Crowd is good in the institute, more than 10000 students studies in the institute from across the India and also across the world. Boys and girls ratio is not good because there are very few girls in the institute. Wi-Fi is not available in the classrooms and in the hostel rooms. Academically this college is best but not for college culture because college culture is not good in the institute. There are only one fest happen each year on independence day in which we perform. There are many clubs in the institute like Incubator for the entrepreneurial idea, Circuiter's Corner, koder's club, Sparks creation, Steptation Crew etc.
