AVV Coimbatore's Infrastructure: Hostels, Labs, and More

AVV Coimbatore is one of the best private universities in my opinion. However, these universities have both pros and cons. Talking about the infrastructure, it is decent, and it is improving as they are making hostels that are more comfortable and in every class, you can find the projector. The teachers are also well qualified. Therefore, you can expect a nice teaching faculty. This campus spends a lot in its laboratory and also it gets many government funds, may in private universities it is not that common. The campus is too beautiful. Greenery is everywhere and you can find wild animals roaming around. Which make it even beautiful? These are the reasons you can choose this university.

I have chosen B.Tech in Civil Engineering because I was interested in Mechanism of the structures. While joining, I have gone through the courses and it was quite new and updated. We have to score 60% in Physics, Math, and Chemistry to be eligible to apply for the course. For admission, you have to clear the entrance exam by Amrita, which is AEEE, or you can get through the rank of JEE Advanced. There are two mains: exam midterm and final term in each semester and them take test as assessment in every week or two weeks. The course content is nice, preparing for real life problems. There are many practical projects, which we have to do which helps us a lot.

The fee for each year is around 2.5 Lakh. It will be approximately 10 Lakh for the whole course. We have to pay extra Rs. 1,000 at the time of admission as a caution deposit, which is refundable. It also provides scholarships based on ranking of upto 100%. The scholarship is called ‘Chancellor Scholarship’. I also got 100% scholarships but had to pay the mess and hostel fee. It is also easier to get scholarships in Civil Engineering but we have to maintain 8 CGPA in every semester for scholarships.

The teachers are graduated from IITs or have done PhDs. Some of them are even gold medalists and senior professors are quite talented people. The teachers are friendly except one or two. They help us when we are in problem even financially for our projects. There are green boards and have to write it with chalks as the university is eco-friendly. They also teach with PPTs on projector available in every classroom. Teachers teach us from their PPTs but encourage us to study from books. The teachers gives effort to make us understand and also solve most of our doubts. The teachers are friendly and they care for the students. You can make a good relationship with them. They even help to give us the pass to go out of college.

There is a completely different department for the placement and training. It is called CIR (Corporate & Industry Relations). From the second year, they start the course and we have to take the course up to 4th year itself. In that course there is 3 different subjects in every semester and the subject are Aptitude, Vocal, Python, and many more. Basically, It trains us for interview. It also conducts the mock interviews and it is taken by a real top company, which makes us prepared for the real interview. In our case, L&T took our mock interview. Many big industry giants like L&T, Tata, Shoal Construction, and many more companies visit and this year the placement were crazy. 95% were placed who sat in placement with an average for 5 to 5.5 LPA. The highest CTC is 8.75 LPA and lowest is 4 LPA for Civil Engineering. I have not sat in placement as I chose to pursue higher studies.

There are 8 boys’ hostels and 4 girls’ hostels (1 is currently under construction), and 1 international boys’ hostel. The old hostels need to be renovated properly as the rooms are small and old. But new hostels are nice as all the facilities are pretty new. However, the quality of the food needs to taken consideration. Sometimes, it is very spicy. The mess arena is clean though. The hostel is also very strict. There is a facility of cab, which will come in the hostel if we are sick and can even take to other hospitals. There are mainly Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 8,000 students in the hostel. The fee of the hostel & mess combined is Rs. 1,20,000 and it is increased every year. The hostel in-timings are 9 PM for first year and for other year, it is 10:30 PM. for girls of every year, it is 9 PM. No electronic appliances are allowed in the hostel.

The size of the campus is 400 acres. There are 5 academic buildings in the college and all are huge in areas. Every one of them is beautiful. The locality is very nice the roads are nice but it is far away from city. But it is accessible as train station is too near to college. The size of the classroom is medium which can accommodate upto 100 students. There is a very big library from where we can get the necessary books for us. There are many labs in this college and this is one of the best parts of this college, and many labs are there for small as well as large departments. There are many auditoriums and conference halls in this college. They should be around 10 in total. The canteen was not good earlier but it is improved now. If you are interested in sports you can join here, the sports facility are quite good. There is a medical inside with doctors who are experienced and very nice. There are security personnel everywhere in the campus from the hostel to every corner in the campus.

The overall campus life inside AVV Coimbatore is pretty nice. There are mostly people from the Southern part of India. No discrimination can be seen in the campus. The AQI of this area is also nice. We can see the mountains from this campus and if feels like valley. There are various clubs in this college. You just have interest to join with them from singing to dancing to debates to chess to spiritually to business. Therefore, there are many clubs. College also organizes a lot of fest. There are 4 main fests in this college. The tech fest is called ‘Anokha’ which is managed by the college and many competitions are there in this fest and the fest is cultural fest is called ‘Gokulasthami’ which is completely managed by the students. In addition, the biggest fest for business department is ‘Pragati’ and another big fest is ‘Amritotsavam’ besides these there are many other fests too. So we can enjoy along with study. My experience is quite nice. I have met new people made many nice friends, studied, and enjoyed too. I will definitely recommend this college.
