BITS Hyderabad: Academics, Faculty and Placements

Overall Rating
Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Hyderabad has shaped my career in a brilliant way. I got a rousing reception from my friends when I got admission here and an even better rousing reception when I was placed in last semester. The institute academics were challenging and that’s how it made me ready for real life challenges.
 

Academics Rating
Academics here are controlled by our parent college BITS Pilani and that was the best thing about our academics. Our academics were not something, which was all over the place but just like a pitch map, was designed well. Our semester sheet is handed in the first week of every semester and the suit is followed as it is. So, as they say, if you can plan your academics well other things take care of themselves. Hence, our academic curriculum is one of the most well planned academics one will ever see.
From 1st year to final year the fee increased from Rs. 5,00,000 a year to well over Rs. 6,00,000 a year last year. However, for every student who scores over 8.3 CGPA, is eligible for a flat 30% scholarship.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty members are star players here and the reason why academics are not all over the place but so well organized is them. Faculty members here have always got it right, as they follow every suit described in the manual except one. The one was that certain number of lectures that they will conduct. Extra classes were organized by almost every faculty, as sometimes it was students’ need while sometimes it was faculties who felt the need for the same. So, their sense of judgment was next level. I am glad to have such faculty members.
 

Placement Rating
Let's be fair that IT sector is currently in a recession and yet 85% students from our batch are placed including me. Google, Oracle, and likewise many sought after IT companies were present and ensured that the student who fit their match is recruited then and there itself.
 

Hostel Rating
BITS Hyderabad has its own residential facilities. Our campus residency is better than any other, one will find. From double seater rooms to single seater rooms, both the choices are available for students from the second year. Mess food is average taste wise but the variety that it has is something, which a normal house hold can never imagine.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The BITS Hyderabad campus is among one of the biggest in the city but it's still not fully developed. From a fountain to artificial mountain rocks and Graffiti, our campus is as attractive as the campuses of many IITs. Of course, we are 1/10th in size but if talked about picturesque then we are at par with them. Good sports facilities are provided by the institute. Infrastructure all in all is a stunner.
 

Campus Rating
The best part of having a residential campus is that you are always engaged in some activity. So, on that front, I will rate it 10 on 10. A grand tech fest called ‘Atoms’ is organized here. Our cultural fest ‘Pearl’ is also as good as it can be and thus, the campus life here is amazing.

  • BITSAT: Entry Requirements and Counseling at BITS Hyderabad

    BITS Hyderabad present in the outskirts of Hyderabad is the best institute you can get in Hyderabad (after IIT & IIIT of course). I have felt that the culture here is amazing. It is probably the only engineering degree where innovation is pushed by means of student led startups, making the overall experience better.     BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus offers a great academic environment, flexible curriculum, and a fantastic campus life. The institute's no-reservation policy and strong alumni network set it apart.     The overall experience is great. It has great infrastructure and gated community. The factors made me to use BITS is its strong network, academic flexibility, strong club culture, and many more.     It is an excellent institute with some of the best amenities provided to us. The infrastructure is amazing. The teaching is based on Massachusetts Institute of Technology which is the world's leading technical university. BITS Hyderabad is a well-recognized brand and is comparable to the iit.
