IIT Bombay: Institute of Hopes & Dreams

Overall Rating
As every JEE aspirant, I wanted best institute but it was too late for that or at least I thought. As I started studying here in my 2nd year juggling all my national exams at once. I was told that it would be difficult to qualify Advanced. But, I was able to do that was allotted this branch through my rank.
 

Academics Rating
I am currently studying B.Tech Metallurgical Engineering Material Science. The obvious entry requirement is to qualify JEE Main and Advanced after the completion of 10+2. The admission process was online and for the course enrollment, our seniors helped by taking a session dedicated for that. The academics are good. The curriculum allows us to gain knowledge of course.
The fee is mostly similar (excluding some categories).
 

Faculty Rating
I cannot deny the fact that professors here are extremely smart and really know what they are talking about; most of them are very seasoned. They have been working and researching about course background for years. Some professors are really good researchers and know their subject very well, very passionate but it would be better pay more attention towards students’ queries and problems.
 

Placement Rating
Regarding placements, there is a placement cell, which takes care of internships and placements of all students. You have an advantage as applying to companies becomes easier.
 

Hostel Rating
I lived in hostel-16 in my first year and currently I live in hostel-15. Every hostel has its own set of problems. The rooms in 16 &15 are quite good and has space compared to 1 & 2. Yes, the hostels for girls and boys are separate. till 10 PM you all can go to whatever hostel with your cards and ensure to return till 2 PM. The quality of food is okay but hygiene can be better. Every hostel has a canteen
 

Infrastructure Rating
Campus of IIT Bombay is beautiful. Nostalgia hits every time you enter through the main entrance. The lecture halls are good and are separated according to sizes. Campus size is huge. The library and reading hall everything is decent. The labs are equipped with very premium machines for research purposes. You have Dominos, Café 92, and Best Breakfast near the lecture hall; prices are reasonable here. There some other cafes in some departmental buildings.
 

Campus Rating
I would never trade this experience for anything else. The people I have met, the friends I have made, and the lessons I have learnt here will go a long way. Maximum students here are quite nice. There are a lot of cultural clubs, technical clubs, sport clubs, etc. We of course cannot forget Asia's largest institute cultural fest ‘Mood Indigo’, Tech-fest and E-cell. There are also some communities formed by Telugu, Kannada and other state students. As I said, the experience is never always good; you will have to face some ugly truths. Work on yourself and enjoy.
