Banasthali Vidyapith's Hostel Facility: Rooms, Dining, and More

Well, I had just finished my class 12th board exams and I had absolutely no idea of how magical of an experience, a university could offer. Like many other girls, I was completely unaware of my university and its prestige, until my uncle introduced me to Banasthali Vidyapith, Jaipur a university which has been a home to many outstanding women, who have made history and continue to do so. Avani Chaturvedi, the first female fighter pilot, Meera Kumari, and recently a student pursuing her PhD in music, got the opportunity to sing a song in Heeramandi movie. Apart from the strong academics it offers a wide range of activities like swimming, horse riding, archery, karate, judo, and yoga. I participated in debates at the college and the university level. I participated in many departmental fests also. Overall, my experience is truly emotional & close to my heart; full of academics & extracurricular achievements, with mixed experiences. I chose this particular university because it focuses on an individual's value building and overall development of the student's personality, through cultural activities promoting togetherness and warmth in friendships. Girls should opt for this University because through its academic value and fivefold education, it focuses on holistic development. It is different from other universities because it focuses on educating the students about Indian culture, tradition, and values. Also, instilling rationality in the young minds.

I chose Bachelor of Arts course to pursue my passion for English Literature. For this course, the student should have passed 12th standard with good performance in her subjects and eligibility comprises of having, at least one language, preferably English till the 12th class. Admission process of the university is a simple and one day process, with the official offer letter for admission, physical check up or medical checkup, a brief interview, and submission of the fee. Identity card and university rules book is also handed down to the student, on the same day after fee submission.

The fee of my course is Rs. 3,50,000. Approximately Rs. 65,000 for each semester including the hostel fee and tuition fee. Security amount is deposited additionally for the student's convenience. Many scholarships are offered on the basis of class 12th results and to categories like SC/ST and EWS.

The faculty members of this course have an excellent academic background, completing their graduation from DU, JNU, BHU, and many other universities. Some teachers are alumni of Banasthali Vidyapith, Jaipur itself. The method of teaching is extensive, comprising of PPTs, smart boards, small pointers about the topic, and for some subjects detailed & even handwritten notes are provided by the teachers. The faculty members have a good problem solving skill through which they encourage the student to not give up, despite the obstacles and keep moving forward. The faculty is extremely approachable and has regular interactions with students. I have an emotional bonding with my teachers. They are the pioneers in shaping my intellect and I personally admire my teachers for their ability to guide me, despite their busy schedule.

Placements for my course are generally available after Masters. So, students usually go for Masters degree or prepare for competitive exams.

Yes, the university offers excellent residential facilities with proper beds, furnished rooms, good quality food, and a strong support system of wardens. Lunch, dinner, breakfast, and evening snacks are provided timely without fail every day. In case of festivals, food for fasts is also provided. The hostel rules are both flexible and strict to instill discipline in students. Hostel is open from 6 AM to 9 PM. The rules basically comprise of maintaining peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, following official procedures, obeying the warden, and avoiding wastage of food. Most importantly, if found to be indulged in abuse or physical harassment, you’ll be rusticated on spot. My experience at hostel was best because my wardens in all three years were very attentive and alert to all my needs and difficulties.

Ratan Mandir is the name of the Humanities Department. The central library has good collection of books including the Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads, Oxford Yearbooks, and historical reviews to nurture the young minds of the students. Medical and transport facilities are great; several buses run around the campus to facilitate students, teachers, and residents. The sports complex comprises of a gym complex, indoor sports complex, a cricket stadium, a swimming pool, and a big ground known as ‘Vidula Maidan’ for various activities like running, basketball, athletic activities, volleyball, throw ball, football, etc. The classroom size is big enough to ensure proper accommodation and the seats are comfortable enough to ensure the student's comfort with regards to the hectic daily schedule. My favorite place was a coffee shop, right in the midst of greenery and puppies in the lap of nature, where I would go for solo walks. Campus is as vast as 850 acres and has more than 50 hostels for almost 16000 girls from across the country.

Campus life is extraordinary at Students usually go for Masters degree or prepare for competitive exams. The university crowd is wide, ranging from oxford students to students of workers from nearby villages. The institute does not promote nightlife and clubs, but in different courses there are various clubs like literary and debating society. There are innumerable fests at the university like ‘Adhyaay’ for humanities department,’ Navotkarsh’ and ‘Spandan’, ‘Literati’, ‘Sarokar’, ‘Pragati’. My experience at university is phenomenal and I am grateful to be a part of an environment, which has healed and nurtured my soul in all dimensions.
