Why BIT Ranchi Should be a Top Choice?

Overall Rating
My overall experience has been good till now mainly because of the campus life and supportive faculty. The reason why I chose Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi is that it is counted in top NITs and has expert faculties from all over India. Also, it was available in my rank. The institute also has international collaborations with universities all over the world, letting students participate actively in exchange programs. The institute also promotes new entrepreneurship generation with the help of their Entrepreneurship Development Cell and on the other side the placement growth is never neglected here.
 

Academics Rating
The course I have chosen is Chemical Engineering because of the institute's legacy in the field of Engineering. Also, the highest placed student from the institute was from Chemical Engineering. I got this institute on the basis of my rank in JEE Main exam. There is a separate form for the home state OBC students. For category students here, there is relaxation with the rank for admission. Institute’s semester exams are held in the scheduled timings. I have never seen a delay in the exams.
The fee is pretty high as compared to other GFTIs. The fee exceeds Rs. 20,00,000 in four years of your Engineering. During the admissions the total fee including the admission and tuition fees of semester was nearly Rs. 2,00,000. A special discount is provided to the category students. Scholarship is available in the institute based on your CGPA.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty here is really supportive. Every single week there are tutorial classes in every branch, particularly for doubt and problem solving. Highly qualified professors come from diverse backgrounds. The method of teaching is usually PPTs and blackboards while some use group discussions as well. The student-teacher ratio is excellent. Besides teaching, students are also provided with individual mentors for their personal monitoring of progress. Faculties are approachable.
 

Placement Rating
Placement stats are excellent and are constant for many years. The highest package bagged last year was 52 LPA by a Chemical Engineering student. Placement cell is very active and help many students with their placement.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels are allotted at the time of the admission. For the first year the hostels are different and then the hostel is changed which have bigger rooms. Hostels are separate for both genders. Mess food is not so good but sometimes special dinner is prepared. The hostel charge was Rs. 35,000 in total including mess charge for the first semester. From second semester onwards the room rent was Rs. 20,000 and mess charge was nearly around Rs. 20,000 as well (mess charge is different for every person). My personal experience in the hostel is overall nice.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure is nice with big lecture halls and air conditioned classrooms. Library is rather small as compared to other institutes but has good collections of books. Campus is spread over 780 acres and is almost 20 kilometers away from the main city of Ranchi. Usually the classroom capacity is nearly 70-80 and lecture halls can fit more than 100 students. Auditorium is really large with a huge audience capacity. Sports and transport facilities are completely free for the students. Also the medical facility is 24 hours open for everyone. Overall the infrastructure is good and surrounded with lush green environment.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life here is excellent and the crowd is commendable in terms of talent. There are more than 50 clubs providing practical and leadership skills. I am a part of the drama club. Many events take place in the campus regularly. The biggest events are ‘Bitotsav’ and ‘Patheon’ which attract a lot of attention from the entire city. The campus life has been amazing given the engaging events of our institute.

  • BIT Mesra Campus Life: Clubs, Sports, and More

    My experience of BIT Mesra has been mixed. The positive aspects of this Institute are its placements, its highly qualified professors and its reputation. On the negative side the Institute has been investing very little lately and sometimes. The facilities provided are very frustrating.   • All You Need to Know About BIT

    I got a decent rank of 27000 in the JEE mains, 2023. I was hoping to get ECE in PEC Chandigarh, but in the last round of CSAB I couldn't get it. My next choice was BIT Mesra. I could have got AIML but during counseling I had no idea about this branch, so I had chosen ECE. Apart from this the college, infrastructure and campus are very beautiful and good.
