GCETTS Serampore: Student’s Experiences at Premier Textile Tech College

Overall Rating
Until date, my experience about Government College of Engineering & Textile technology has been superb. It is located in Hooghly district in West Bengal, which is situated around 40 minutes faraway from Howrah railway station. It is located beside the river Ganges, so the atmosphere is beautiful. Until now, I am enjoying my life at my college.
 

Academics Rating
I took admission in Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Apparel Production Management (APM), which is specialization stream of Textile Engineering. One can take admission in this college through the basis of West Bengal joint entrance examination rank. Like other B.Tech courses, this course duration is also 4 years, which includes 8 semesters. Every year the board conducted exam 2 times. The exams are not that difficult and if a student studies regularly, he or she can pass the exams easily. There are also some Continuous Assignments exams conducted by the board.
The course fee is very low because it is a government-funded college. The fee structure varies in different branches. The highest fee is in Information technology department, which is around Rs. 12,000. Textile Technology fee is Rs. 6,500 and for CSE & APM, it is Rs. 8,500.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty of GCETTS Serampore is highly qualified and truly helpful. The faculty is one of best part of the college. Some of the professors are passed from IIT, Jadavpur University, and some other recognized colleges. Most of the have research papers which published in different papers. The professor's are students friendly and very collaborative. The always helps us in our subjects. They give us motivation to work hard in our field. The teacher to student ratio of this college is 1:10 approximately. The professors take their classes regularly.
 

Placement Rating
There is a placement cell in my college. they always help students to get a placement in different companies. A lot of placement related activities & programs are conducted at the college like training from different. The highest package around 5.7 LPA and the average package is 3 LPA to 3.5 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
GCETTS Serampore has a hostel. Only very few students from every year can stay in the hostel. There are sports facilities in the college. There is no girl’s hostel in this college. The hostel is only for boys.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The college campus is not that big. The buildings are old. The classrooms are good enough for students. There is education friendly atmosphere in the classroom. This college has a good library with a good number of books. There is also a seminar hall and most importantly, we have laboratories. This college has a big seminar hall and conference hall. The college has a canteen. There are sports facilities in my college but the ground was not big enough. We play cricket, football, and different sports there.
 

Campus Rating
My campus life is nice. The infrastructure is old but one can enjoy the life. This college has good number of students. There is different clubs like coding club, drama, music, etc. Every year the students arrange a cultural fest named ‘Texavision’. Everyone participated is this event and we enjoys a lot in this event. Every year, we have college sports in which the teachers and the students participates. I enjoy campus life very much. The college is not much crowded. This college gives a good experience.

    The teaching skill of staff in GCETTS Serampore is very nice. They help each student to upgrade his or her skill. This college is very nice and in this college sports cultural program debate competition and dance music all is going well and so many activities like tree plantations like program. The college always helps us for scholarship matters, it also provide the good students job campus. The college is very good. Studying here is nice and one can definitely opt for this college....
