Personal Perspective of VIT Vellore: A Place to Learn & Grow

Overall Rating
VIT is located in remote location of Vellore in Tamil Nadu. Although, it situated in TN, it admits most of its students from northern India; I am one of them the only way to get admitted through India quota is writing VITEEE exam conducted by its own and attend counseling by the same college. Overall, admission process is smooth.
 

Academics Rating
I was admitted to B.Tech computer science & technology in specialization with Information Security. This course is well aligned with CSE core. The 21 credits are for specialized electives. All the B.Tech courses are handled by AICTE. Overall, all the courses are well designed with maximum focus on practical knowledge rather than theoretical knowledge.
Fee structure entirely depends on fee category you were admitted into and your VITEE rank. If you are any of parents work in the institute, they get concession of 50%. If you get under 500 ranks in VITEE exam, you get 25% to 100% tuition fee concession. If you maintain 100% attendance in a semester, you get additional concession. There is a scholarship also for the students who belong to financially weaker section.
 

Faculty Rating
All the faculty members are well qualified with 90% having PhD degree. They also have keen interest in publishing research papers because they write more research papers. They teach on pot but some teach on white board. Another good thing about this institute is FFCS, which Is Fully Flexible Credit System that allows you to select your own teacher, timings, and place which is a great thing about this institute.
 

Placement Rating
The institute will put its soul to get you placed. Because it is a private institute, if you work hard you will definitely be placed. The only disadvantage is that, there are about 5000 people in the institute who are seeking placement and you are one of them. The average package is 5 LPA to 9 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
VIT Vellore has one of the best hostel facilities. The rooms are available in sharing and all have ACs also. There is separate vegetarian and non-vegetarian mess that cost around Rs. 7,000 per month.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The institute spends a lot on infrastructure. The newly constructed building is just amazing. Labs over there are best. All the classrooms have biometric attendance system now. There is a 4-floored library, which can accommodate around 2500 students at a time. It is air-conditioned.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life is average. There are clubs in which you can take part and have fun. However, some rules & regulations are strict, it is not all bad. My experience has been good.

    VIT, Vellore is a really great institute for anyone who is interested to pursue engineering. It has a wonderful campus of around 375 acres. It has all sorts of amenities that you expect from a premier institute. I chose this institute for its all round brilliance and because of the fact that it is ranked 11th in the NIRF ranking.     Curriculum: I am currently pursuing CSE at Vellore Institute of Technology. Learnt basics and everything is going fine. There is a great thing called FFCS here where I could choose my desired faculty and course according to my interest. One can get enough freedom of doing his/her desired course. Clubs: VIT has many clubs which keep organizing events in a regular interval of time.     I have joined in VIT VELLORE in the year of 2024 as a fresher in B.Tech course. The college is very big and the college infrastructure is very huge and they provide an excellent opportunity for students with quality teaching and equipments.     I am currently a fresher at VIT. In all honesty, professors are decent, and the infrastructure is exceptional. The events are also really fresher friendly, and so much fun.
