IISU Jaipur: for Mass Communication and Jewellery Design

The IIS University, Jaipur, for me, holds a compatible rank. The institution takes up everything from academics to co-curricular. When I first visited the campus of IISU, I was thrilled like a baby to start my academic journey here. My motive was to achieve a major in Mass Communication alongside a minor in Jewellery Design. The campus, especially for my department, impressed me. It consists of a studio for multiple purposes, editing rooms and other smart teaching class rooms. Something which made this campus visit different from others was it's quality of education in theory and the helping faculty members which is by far hard to find.

In the department of Journalism and Mass Communication, there is a special focus on practical learning as the course and career both requires good amount of field work. My motive behind choosing this course was to get into reporting and writing. The entry requirements are very simple and basic; one requires a name, age, address, and identification. The Eligibility criteria requires a 12th pass student or, if applying for Masters or Ph.D, the name of previous institutes and degrees. Exams are held semester wise and in each semester there are two assessments. One, in the middle semester called Continuous Assessment or CA and the other, is the Semester End Examinations. The overall academics are thorough and includes high amount of practical knowledge and field work.

The fee structure includes the final amount of the course chosen, which for me was Rs. 1,00,000 for a year and the subject chosen as the Skills Development Program, roughly around Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 per year. IISU provides a scholarship based on percentage secured in 12th grade, depending on the percentile the amount of reduction in the fee is offered.

Faculty all around the campus is helpful and understanding. For BJMC, most of the faculty members are females and very cooperative. They’ll help you with any query you have and never backs off for any additional help. Teaching is primarily done through PPTs. The internal class activities include group discussions and presentations, which helps to connect among other students and builds team work skills. If one gets lucky, like me, the faculty bond is beyond just teaching and nodding heads. Every faculty member is ready to help in every way they can and can be approached at any time of the university hours.

The placement cell of the university is very active and attentive. Every offer and opportunity is provided to each student of the college through the college e-mail, including internship recommendation. Many guest lectures are held alternatively which provides students both overview and takes students for internships and placements.

The university has its own residential facilities for students, which is within the campus. A good amount of students reside in the hostel and have given their experience to be hygienically good and outing wise strict. The food quality of the hostel mess is very clean and tastes good. The variety changes day wise and all 3 meals are served with proper diet.

Different departments are distributed accordingly to different blocks of the buildings. The campus size is not very big but easily completes all the requirements and necessities. The classrooms are big enough to easily accommodate 60 students at once. There are several other special halls and rooms for occasional purposes, like AV Hall and Studio. Library is situated at the basement of the building. All the labs are situated near their respective departments. Two canteens and outdoor cafes are available on and outside campus. The campus holds a Gym, Basketball court, a ground with badminton and tennis court with the entire sports faculty. The Transport includes buses and vans running all around the city.

The campus life is very fun and healthy at IIS University, Jaipur. There are several clubs for almost every department of the college, also consisting of extracurricular activities. I, myself am a part of the dance club and society called "Mudra". Accordingly there are many fests and events conducted regularly and yearly to represent the activities and talent of the college students. There are inter-college events as well held on yearly basis to make the college life fun and interesting with new opportunities.
