Campus Life and Academics at RGUKT Basar

Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar campus, offers educational experience, particularly for rural students. I feel very good that I joined this university. Actually, it is my father's dream to join into his reputed University. I have chosen it because the education is of high quality and the faculty is highly expertise. It is one of the reputed universities in the state. Actually, every university is same in terms of education and reputation but there is one thing that this university provides free education for the rural students of Telangana.

RGUKT provides a six years integrated course with 2 years of Pre-University course (PUC) and 4 years of Engineering course. Currently, I am in B.Tech 2nd year in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) stream. I have chosen this course because I feel that there is much more to learn how signals pass, how technology is evolving, and most importantly to learn about space this branch will made a step closer to ISRO to know more and explore about the space that motivated me to chose this branch. Coming to eligibility criteria (government) students who have good CGPA in 10th standard are eligible to join in this University. There are total 12 semester exams in this 6 years course means each year contains 2 semesters. Actually, this university teaches us every day, every second how to survive in this world and to overcome the difficult situations.

I do not pay any fee. Students who do not have income certificate have to pay fee of Rs. 36,000 for pre-University course and Rs. 40,000 for engineering course every year. OBC category students has to pay a minimum fee of Rs. 15,000 every year and EWS category students has to pay a minimum of Rs. 12,000 every year. No other discount is available for any specific category students. During new semester registration, we have to pay Rs. 500 to enroll into that semester. Special category like PH also no need to pay any fee.

The faculty in my course is highly intellects. They are highly expertise in their particular subjects. Each and every faculty has done PhD in their respective subjects and almost all are GATE rank holders. The way they teach is highly appreciable. In our campus, the faculty uses blackboards and PPT has based on requirement. The respected faculties have high abilities to solve the problems in different manners. The teacher -student ratio is somewhat less I think the ratio is about 1:5. Faculty in our campus is student friendly. If we have any doubts regarding the academic or anything, we can contact them to know their opinions.

We have a cell called Placements cell. It helps students to get jobs in their dream companies and of course in reputed companies. Faculties and some experts train the students and prepare them for the interviews. They teach them all techniques, skills, communication skills, behavior, and body language etc. to appear for an interview. I do not know any activities or programs related to the Placements. Many companies visit our campus and recruit students from our university. Companies like Infosys, Intel, micron technology, TCS, Tata steel, thermal, etc. are the companies which visit our campus. Highest package is 14 LPA offered by Infosys and average package is 5 LPA. I have not experienced anything regarding the placement yet.

Yes, the campus provides the residential facilities to all the students. There are 3 buildings which has 4 to 5 floors each floor contains nearly 150 rooms. Each room should have at least 3 students. Facilities are quite good. Rooms are good with ventilation. Housekeepers will come and clean daily. Boys’ and Girls’ hostels are separated. Mess food is also good, but sometimes it is not that good but we have to adjust as they cook in bulk quantities. Mess premises are clean and hygiene. There are certain rules and regulations for the mess.

Our University is constructed in huge space of 272 acres. The infrastructure is good. There are 2 academic blocks, each of 3 floors. Apart from these, there are also 7 departmental blocks for engineering students according to the branches. In academic blocks, the seating capacity is upto 70 members with chairs, desks, and switchboards to charge laptops. In department blocks, the seating is upto 60 members. There are 2 libraries present in our campus one is Central library, which is available 24/7, and the other is digital library, which is used to listen to the lectures. There are all kinds of labs present with all kinds of lab equipment. Seminar halls are present according to the branch. Auditoriums and conference halls all are present in our campus. One canteen is present. 2 large playgrounds are also present to play games. Hospital is also present for any medical emergency. Security is also present. My favorite place is of course my hostel room, it feels warm and comfortable.

My campus life is absolutely great, as I have never been to any campus this is my first and last campus to experience, so it would be remembered and cherished forever. There are a total of 9000 students in our entire campus. So it is always crowded with people wherever you go. Yes, there are many clubs like cultural club, academic club, dance club, music club, hope house, film club sports club, etc. Yes, I am a part of singing club. Every year our campus conducts events on Ugadi and Diwali. Currently, we are celebrating fest which is named as Antapragnya. In this, there are activities of different domain such as tech, sports, and cultural. I am very happy that I got best friends from this campus life.
