My View of SWCE Coimbatore

Overall Rating
Overall experience of the college was good. It had beautiful surroundings with nature from all the sides. I chose this college because reference from my school senior. SWCE Coimbatore had a good scope for Mechanical Engineering. The campus and infrastructure was good. It had a good library with many kinds of books mostly related to academics. It also supported students for sports and organised various matches.
 

Academics Rating
I chose B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) course because I had interest in mechanics right from my childhood. Students must pass 12th class to be eligible for this course. Admission process was simple as there were no exams or interviews. I just filled the form with required documents and secured admission. Exams were conducted once in every 3 months. SWCE Coimbatore is an affiliated to Anna University, Chennai, so exams’ question papers will be provided by this university.
The annual fee for my course was Rs. 60,000 (during all the 4 years). There was no admission fee but an exams fee of Rs. 1,000 per semester was charged. Scholarship was available for BC and minority background students.
 

Faculty Rating
Half of the faculty was good and well qualified. Some of the faculties were completely approachable. They gave advice for the project and helped during doubts. Occasionally, they used PPT and conducted group discussions. The ratio of teacher and students was 1:6.
 

Placement Rating
Placement should be improved as we had to search for jobs by ourselves after college.
 

Hostel Rating
Study World College of Engineering offered residential facilities to students which were separately available for male and female students. Mess food could have been better. Students should be within the hostel premises before 7 PM. Various PGs and rental rooms are available outside the college also.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus was huge with big classrooms and well-equipped labs for each department. It was clean and well maintained. There is a good library within the campus. It has many books which were useful for reference during exams and project. There was also big auditorium in the campus. Sport facilities are also provided by the college. Canteen food was good but could have been improved. The college also had a van for transportation.
 

Campus Rating
Overall campus life was good with friends. They had many clubs like NCC, NSS, and blood donation club. I was part of blood donation club. Fest and events were held only once or twice in a year. Festivals were also celebrated at the college. The college also conducted inter-college festivals which were good.
