What Every Student Should Know About BITS Hyderabad

Overall Rating
BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus offers a great academic environment, flexible curriculum, and a fantastic campus life. The institute's no-reservation policy and strong alumni network set it apart. I chose BITS for its practice school internship and research opportunities. Others should consider it for its academic freedom and student friendly environment. Unlike many colleges, BITS does not force attendance, allowing students to manage their time. The campus encourages innovation, independence, and practical learning, making it an excellent choice for students who want both knowledge and real world experience.
 

Academics Rating
I am pursuing a BE in Mechanical Engineering here. Admission is based on the BITSAT entrance exam that tests Math, Physics, Chemistry, English, and Logical Reasoning. The process is straightforward, with no reservations. Exams are held twice a semester, keeping us engaged with studies. The academics focus on practical learning, with projects and internships that help us apply concepts to real world problems. This approach helps us gain practical knowledge and prepare us for future challenges.
The tuition fee is around 2.5 to 2.7 Lakh Per Semester. In addition, hostel fee is about Rs. 40,000 per semester, and mess charges are around Rs. 20,000. Onetime admission fee of approximately Rs. 50,000 is also required. Merit based scholarship are available for students with high scores in BITSAT or those with excellent academic performance in college. Some students also receive financial aid based on family income.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty here for Mechanical Engineering is highly qualified with most holding PhDs from top institutes. They have strong academic and research backgrounds. Teaching methods include blackboard explanations, PPTs, lab sessions, and group discussions. Professors focus on practical learning and encourage students to ask questions. They are ready to help with doubts, both in and outside class. Many professors also guide students in research and projects. Overall, the faculty is supportive & knowledgeable.
 

Placement Rating
The institute has a dedicated placement cell that helps students get jobs in top companies. It organizes workshops, mock interviews, and resume- building sessions to prepare students for placements. The college has strong industry connections, and many reputed companies like Google, Microsoft, Tata, and Mahindra visit for recruitment. The average package is around 17 - 18 LPA, while the highest can go above 40 LPA. Since I am not placed, yet I am still preparing with the help of the placement cell.
 

Hostel Rating
This institute provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls in separate buildings. The hostels have well maintained rooms, shared by two students or single are also provided with basic needs like beds, study tables, Wi-Fi, and laundry services. There are common rooms, which includes sports facilities and TV rooms. The mess serves food four times a day, and the quality is decent with a variety of options. I stay in the hostels, and the experience is good with a friendly environment.
 

Infrastructure Rating
BITS Pilani Hyderabad has a large and modern campus with well-planned academic blocks. The campus is spread over 200 acres is a peaceful location. Lecture rooms have a capacity of around 300 - 400 while tutorial rooms have a capacity of 100 students and have projectors for better learning. The institute has well equipped labs, huge library, seminar halls, and an auditorium. There are multiple canteens, sports facilities, a medical center, and 24/7 security. My favorite place is SAC (Students Activity Center) where I used to play different games and other curricular activities.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life at here is amazing and engaging. The college has a diverse and friendly crowd, making it easy to connect with people. There are many clubs for technical, cultural, and social activities and I am part of one. The institute organizes extracurricular activities like hackathons, workshops, and sports events. The annual fests, Atoms (technical fest) and Pearl (cultural fest), are major fests with students from different colleges participating. Festivals like Diwali and Holi are also celebrated.

    BITS Hyderabad present in the outskirts of Hyderabad is the best institute you can get in Hyderabad (after IIT & IIIT of course). I have felt that the culture here is amazing. It is probably the only engineering degree where innovation is pushed by means of student led startups, making the overall experience better.     The overall experience is great. It has great infrastructure and gated community. The factors made me to use BITS is its strong network, academic flexibility, strong club culture, and many more. The one unique to BITS is its practice school program, where a student is exposed to industry of minimum of 8 months through internship.     It is an excellent institute with some of the best amenities provided to us. The infrastructure is amazing. The teaching is based on Massachusetts Institute of Technology which is the world's leading technical university. BITS Hyderabad is a well-recognized brand and is comparable to the iit.
