A Student’s Journey at DAV College, Chandigarh

Overall Rating
DAV College, Chandigarh is a decent college to get your degree. It has a number of opportunities for your extra co-curricular activities. It also offers you good exposure for sports. I chose this college because of attendance, though teachers here are nice and understands your issues if you are not attending classes. Overall, college has a nice infrastructure and good amenities.
 

Academics Rating
I chose B.Com and here the requirement is to clear the cutoff with a required percentage and you get admission through PU. This college is under PU so you will get a degree from PU. Academics have a decent focus here and we get assignments depending upon the classes. The academic may not prepare you that much but the experience you gain here by being a part of the college clubs are amazing and fruitful. The exams here are held semester wise.
At DAV College, Chandigarh, the yearly fee is about Rs. 14,000. There is an additional Examination fees for Rs. 3,200 per semester. Also, a certain amount is charged as fine from the students who have less attendance.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty at DAV College, Chandigarh is very nice according to my course, all the teachers were great especially of the practical subjects like accounts and tax. These teachers have a lot of experience. Few teachers also have books of their own. They are always there to help you, guide you and provide you all the necessary study material required for your exams. Teaching methods used by the faculty members includes blackboards, group discussion, assignments, presentations, etc.
 

Placement Rating
Placement cell at DAV College, Chandigarh tries to get companies for different courses but selection rate of good companies is low.
 

Hostel Rating
DAV College, Chandigarh offers residential facility to its students, though I was a day scholar I have been to hostel and it is a decent hostel with good quality of food.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Campus has a decent size with ample space to roam and sit around. It has a big ground and 2 secondary gardens to sit around. The library here is nice and auditorium is quite big. Our college had a good amount of options to grab your food from as there are different canteens in the campus and these offers a number of food options to the students. The favorite part for me was the basketball court at the campus.
 

Campus Rating
Overall campus life at DAV College, Chandigarh is good if you join different clubs and be a part of different events and fest. The college crowd usually is a little fun type of crowd and college is usually crowded between 11 AM - 2 PM. I was a part of Pixels, NCC, and Enactus. But there are also clubs like Youth Red Cross, Commercial, Business Management Society, Library Club, Modeling Club, Dance Club, etc. DAV College, Chandigarh hosts a 3 days annual fest as well. Events are hosted on regular basis here.

    My overall experience in the college was average. The course is a bit overcrowded having over 1000 students in BA. My reason behind choosing this course was the easy entry to get in as only 50% marks are required to get into the course. There are good things like the events and fests that they organize. DAV College has a good reputation, but I chose this because it has more than just study, which I really like a lot. There are different clubs and you can join them & learn and grow with a team....
