My Insights on DAV College, Chandigarh

Overall Rating
My overall experience in DAV College, Chandigarh has been a bittersweet one. There are multiple ups and downs during the life as a DAV College student. The reason I chose this college was its nice location and reasonable fees structure. The college is very strict with its fee timings. An email is received and you have to pay your fees in 12 hours which makes it a little bit hard to get into this college.
 

Academics Rating
I had chosen B.A.B.Ed integrated course mainly for the reason because it saves one year of academic life due to it being just 4 years. Entry requirements are also very reasonable. Only 50% marks are needed to enroll in this course. Exams are held one time per semester. This course prepares you well for the real life challenges. Exams are really not that tough and stand on the medium difficulty level and aren’t really a problem if you want to pursue part time jobs with the course.
The fees of the course I had chosen at DAV College, Chandigarh is Rs. 51,000 per semester. The fees structure is very simple. There is no hidden fee just a nominal amount for the registration and about Rs. 2,000 – 3,000 every year as the examination fees. Reservations are provided to student of lower caste and disability criteria’s. Financial aid and scholarships are available for excellent students.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty members at DAV College, Chandigarh are competent and they really know what they are doing. Their methods of teaching are very practical and real life based. The faculty doesn’t lack in problem solving abilities. The teacher student ratio is 50-1. Faculty members are very approachable. The faculty members do interact with the students in a really nice way and there are not really any particular complaints with any faculty member that I have had in the past 1.5 years.
 

Placement Rating
There is no placement cell or activity for my particular course at DAV College, Chandigarh.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels at DAV College, Chandigarh are really great but can feel crammed at times. The timings are fairly strict being 8pm for girls and 10pm for boys. The mess food is great. Hostel fees are about Rs. 1, 00,000 per year. My experience at the hostel has been excellent.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The college infrastructure is outdated. Libraries and reading hall areas are a great thing. 3 canteens are present in the college and a cafeteria outside the college is also available. My favorite thing about DAV College, Chandigarh is the gardens. Having so many gardens to just hang around and study really helps a lot to relax and take a break from the hectic schedule.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life is good but a bit boring; The college crowd is great being from vast areas. There are many clubs in the college. Engagement activities are organised by the college every year or two. The annual fest is called ‘Karvan’ which is a top tier event. My experience has been great with Karvan. It is one of the highlights of college life of DAV College, Chandigarh and this event aids in improving social life of the students.

    I am a B.Com student of DAV College Chandigarh and I am in my final year and this is the second best college of Chandigarh which also comes under Panjab University. This college helps us to improve our social skills and other soft skills. The bar of education is held high by the college via proper timetable and great teaching faculty.     D.A.V College is considered as the second best college in Chandigarh, which is affiliated with Panjab University. It has its own vibe; students coming from all over Haryana, Himachal and children of defense personnel make this place very unique. But, this college is best for those who are more into fun than studies as it is a place where fun and social life precedence over academics.
