Admission Process at RKMGEC Purulia

My overall experience at RKMGEC Purulia was decent. Being a government college, the value of the B.Tech degree from this college becomes very high. Moreover, the fee here is very affordable. The faculty members are pass outs of renowned colleges including NITs and several other state colleges. Here is the summary of the reasons why I prefer these colleges. The difference that this college offers is that being a state funded college the fee is quite reasonable unlike other colleges.

I have chosen the course of Electrical Engineering because I have a strong passion towards it. To get admission in this college, you need to clear West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE). Upon clearing the cut-off, you can get an admission in this college provided you are domicile of West Bengal. Candidates who are not residents of West Bengal cannot take admission in this college. The process of admission is quite simple. you just need to bring the necessary documents, which they will inform you upon being shortlisted. Coming to exams, there will be 4 internal exams along with mandatory theory and practical examinations of the respective subjects per semester. To be honest the course curriculum set by the university is not up to industry standards so it needs a bit of improvement.

The fee structure is quite affordable. There is a tuition fee of Rs. 3,000 per semester for Electrical, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering. For Computer Science, Electronic, and Communication Engineering it is Rs. 6,000 per semester.

The faculty here is of top class. Renowned people from different sectors of the society gather here to educate the students in the best way possible. The faculty members also have a very good knowledge about industry standards so they will make you industry ready irrespective of the curriculum the university follows. Thus, they will be of great help during time of placement. They also help students who want to pursue higher studies in India and abroad.

The placement scenario of RKMGEC Purulia is decent. Most students opt for higher studies but those who sit for placements grabs an average package of 5 LPA to 10 LPA. The placement cell helps a lot during this period.

The hostel of our campus is also great. It is accessible only for 3rd and 4th year students. For 1st and 2nd year students, there are several PGs and private mess adjacent to our campus. The hostel fee is Rs. 10,000 to 12,000 per semester.

The infrastructure of RKMGEC Purulia has room for improvement to be honest. Laboratories of each department need to outfit with updated equipment. The washrooms are fully fledged and in operable condition (both male and female washroom). However, if you are a good student then you can surely make use of little opportunities given by the college after coming in terms with the infrastructure. With this said, the college is also planning to renovate laboratories and furnish them with proper equipment in the upcoming years.

Campus life is amazing. Being covered by the plateau region of Chota Nagpur, the campus provides ample amount of scenic beauty. In addition to that, Technical and cultural fest along with Sports day are being celebrated each year. The region is well accessible with railways. Quizzes, Seminars, and debate sessions are daily norms of our campus. In addition, the staff members of our college are very friendly and they help a lot in case of urgent medical conditions.
