B.Tech CSE at KIIT Bhubaneswar: Academics, Fees, & Scholarships

My overall experience is good, but I feel that institute fee is little high. facilities, infrastructure, and faculties are mostly good, but some of them are strict. I chose this institute only because academics are really good over here. It allows choosing elective subject and faculty. The difference is that place is good, your institute life will go good. You can come and study and can get an opportunity to get a high paying salary.

I am doing B.Tech CSE, KIIT is a very reputed institute in India, and have all rankings and almost all good companies come here. The eligibility criteria for admission is to be 10+2 passed with 60% marks with Physics, Chemistry, Maths, English, and any one more subjects. For admissions, you need to give KIITEE exam, and then you will get a percentile, then go for counseling process. if you are allotted a seat, you need to pay the fee. After fee payment and all counseling process are closed, you would be called in institute to pay 1st semester fee and documentation. then after a few days, classes will start. In every semester there is a 20 marks mid semester exam, and 50 marks end semester exam, and 30 marks is in teachers hand which every teacher designs by own, by quizzes, assignments, viva, class test, and attendance.

The fee for B.Tech CSE for my batch was Rs. 1,75,000 per semester that has been increased to Rs. 2,20,000 for 2025 batch. Apart from this, you need to pay Rs. 75,000 as one time admission fee. You need to pay Rs. 1000 every semester at the beginning as registration fee and Rs. 1000 before every end semester exam as examination fee. If you are topper: 1st, 2nd, 3rd in any semester in whole CSE, you get some financial aid. I don't know how much and another scholarship is based on KIITEE rank, if your rank is between 1 to 1000, you get Rs. 60,000 as a scholarship for 1st semester, to continue the same 60,000 scholarship in next continuous semesters, you need to maintain 75% attendance in all subjects and 7.5 CGPA in current semester.

All the faculties are PhD holders and alumni of premium institutes like IIT, NIT, etc. Teaching methods are using PPTs smart boards, and white boards. Teachers are very helping in nature. They help in doubt solving and giving motivation. In a class, there are 90 students and one teacher. You will get a mentor during your course who will guide you for any academic issues.

KIIT has a TNP (Training & Placement) department and is really very active they regularly sends updates about vacancies about companies and bring a lot of companies for placements. Before placement season, they conduct online classes for English, aptitude and DSA classes, which help during placement preparation. They conduct mock tests and personal interviews for making you ready. KPMG, PWC, Amazon, google all good companies come here for recruitment highest package offered was 53 LPA, average package is 7 LPA. Yes, the institute offers many kinds of hostels, AC /Non-AC, 3 sharing, 2 sharing, and attached/common washrooms. most budget friendly hostel is 3 bed non AC rooms with common washroom, which costs 28,000/semester. Boy’s and girl’s hostels are separate. Mess food is average. mess food is served 3 times and tea, snacks at afternoon.

Campus size is huge as the institute is built in 700 acres of land. It has a lush green beautiful campus, well maintained classes, and labs. Outside, there are many outlets for food, clothes, and almost all good brands have stores near the campus. There are food courts outside most of the academic buildings and hostels. Food served is average. There is a hospital nearby named KIMS, which is owned by the institute, which is a multi specialty hospital, and students get free doctor consultation here.

My campus life is going good, Crowd is very much. There are many societies for various activities you can choose any one or more based on your interest like singing, dancing, poetry, modeling etc., however, there is an interview process to join and they prefer people with past experience. There is an annual fest, many stars like Jubin Nautiyal and Sunidhi Chauhan have performed here. There are many small to big events organized every month you can take part in them also.
