Academic Life at Silicon University, Bhubaneswar: Exams and Real-world Preparation

My life in Silicon University is very memorable, exciting, and a bit complicated because all I have done is study. The faculties of this university are very good and understanding. Bhubaneswar city is best known for engineering and choosing a university is more difficult task so I overcome this via help of my counselor who suggested me to join this university as this was known for best academics in Bhubaneswar and is more affordable as compared to others and is strict to its rules and regulations. Therefore, I opted for this university.

I opted for Electronics & Communication Engineering as my JEE score was not good to pursue Computer Science & Engineering. I was but upset but listening from others about my branch came to be a good one, as in Electronics & Communication Engineering students can go for IT as well as core skills they demand. The branch is given to students via JEE percentile above 90 is CSE, above 80 IT related branch, above 70 ECE branch, below 70 EEE branch, and below 60 is EIE branch. In any course one will opt, they would have to give two exams one is mid semester and end semester every sem they move ahead. The academic is very good as it is very difficult to crack so it prepares us for real life challenges itself.

The fee of any course chosen is taken as tuition fee that is Rs. 1,50,000 per annum, they charge it semester wise. No other extra charges are taken. There is additional fee policy for EWC candidates. Scholarship is also available for students who cannot afford and the amount is Rs. 1,500.

The faculty of our university are very well educated and knowledgeable. They guide students very well in every step. The teaching techniques of the faculties are very effective and helpful, so most of the students excel in academics parts, and our university too is renowned for this part. The faculties are always keen to solve the doubts and query students have and make them understand in the best way. The teacher to student is well maintained in our university. There are many faculties with whom my bond is very good and I interact with them most of the times and they appreciate me a lot.

I am in my final year as I saw the records of previous batch and current scenario the placement record is very high. In previous batch that was 2023 batch, almost 83% students were placed. In my batch, the ratio is nearly high than that. In the final year the students who do well are offered paid internships which is more than expected amount, I was also offered the same with a stipend of 50000. Most of the MNCs visit our university like Accenture, Wipro, Cognizant, TCS, PWC, etc. many of the students are placed in that companies from our university. The average package offered is 4 LPA.

Yes, Silicon University offers residential facilities, I am also a resident in the hostel. The total no of rooms are 700 plus in the both girls and boys. The rooms are very large and spacious with one single bed, study table with chair, one mattress, one pillow, a cupboard, and a shoe stand. Yes, the girl’s and boy’s hostels are separate. Hostel rules are very strict and are followed by every resident the timings of the hostel is 6 AM to 7 PM. Mess food is well cooked and are overall good and are also very hygienic. As a resident of the hostel, I suggest the ambience and safety in staying in the resident is very good.

There are separate blocks for each branch. The campus size is very huge and locality is crowded every time. There is a large auditorium, which can hold upto 900 students. The library is very calm and equipped with Wi-Fi for proper self-study. Classrooms are very large with smart projectors and Wi-Fi installation. They provide transport to students who com e from faraway places. The canteen is also clean with proper water and sitting facilities, there are separate canteen for veg and non-veg food.

My overall campus life is amazing and unforgettable. University area is crowded for most of the time. There are various clubs for different activities of student choices. The various clubs are Music club, dance club, theatre club, coding club, robotics club, literature club, IEEE club, and many more. I am a part of coding and theatre club of our university. There are various activities and events held in our university every month to keep engage the students in up Skilling. The two major fests held in Silicon University are ‘Zygon’ and ‘Nirman’ which is cultural and technical fest respectively.
