Student Life and Facilities at Galgotias University, Greater Noida

I am a student at GCET. The campus and infrastructure of the campus are good. It is not very large area wise, but it has everything to chill out. While classes are well maintained and equipped with air conditioning and projectors. The University has sufficient lab equipment whether it’s for computer science or electronics, electrical and other branches. Greenery is up to the mark in the campus. It has a good canteen area with enough shops with different varieties. Hostel experience is 4/5. This University is suitable if you didn't score a high percentile in your JEE but still it would be a good enough choice for a private Institute. I think the campus life is better than other Universities in Greater Noida. Although I don't find the academics very good here.

Being a B.Tech student in Information Technology, the main motive was to pursue my dream of being a software engineer. I scored 88.9%ile in JEE and got admitted through AKTU counseling. Each course in B.Tech consists of 4 years and each year is of 2 semesters (total 8 semesters). Each semester consists of two or three internal exams and is concluded with an external exam. The marks of both the internal and external exams are considered in the final result.

B.Tech course has a fee of Rs. 1,15,000 for first year, with admission fee and exam fee summing up to about Rs. 1,27,000. For EWS candidates who have secured a fee waiver seat, the tuition fee is zero and the student has to pay only the rest that are admission fee Rs.6,000, exam fee Rs. 7,500, hostel fee and transportation fee if applicable.

Most of the faculty members are skilled in their domains. A lot of them come from IIT background or some other esteemed Institutes. They have well enough teaching experience. There are a variety of subjects and the class experience is just enough to pass the exam with a satisfactory score. Mode of teaching is in a mix of Hindi and English using a chalk and board. Every teacher is assigned about 70 students. It really depends on the nature of the teacher as some of them are very friendly and others are not so social.

The placement at GCET is average and it roughly goes up to 4-5 L on an average. There is a placement cell in the University but I don't have much idea about their functioning.

The University has a proper hostel building for both boys and girls. The boys hostel offers three seater and four seater rooms which are very spacious. There are separate buildings for boys and girls. The mess food is given 4 times though the quality is average.

Galgotias University has 6 different blocks for the different departments. It has enough number of classes and laboratories. The University has many computer labs, chemistry lab, physics lab, electrical and electronics labs, and all other necessary labs. The University has a big library with a lot of study material, equipped with computer systems and fast Wi-Fi. There are many books related to both academics and non academics for all the domains like technology, math, science, history, etc.

Galgotias University campus is not very large but it is better than other Universities in Greater Noida. It is placed just below the metro and the connectivity is good. The Greater Noida expressway is just beside it. The University has two canteens with enough shops and varieties. Greenery is maintained throughout the campus and you can enjoy sitting on the grassy ground while having lunch or just chilling. There is a basketball court and a big cricket and football field.
