Hindu College, New Delhi: Academic Excellence in Mathematics

My experience in Hindu College has been amazing until now. The teaching faculty is very friendly and helpful in nature. They guide us at every step. The crowd of the college is also vast and varied. There are a lot of factors that have made me choose this college. My college has wide internship as well as placement opportunities along with a very strong academic base. It also provides a large number of extracurricular activities and is top ranked under the University of Delhi which shows its superiority compared to other colleges.

The course chosen by me is B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics. In addition, from the school times, I liked Math a lot. I love solving Math problems. Therefore, I decided to pursue a career in Mathematics. For the same purpose, I chose this course because I thought this course would be perfect for me to build up my further interest in the subject. The admission to this course in my college is based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) score, which was out of 800 marks. It consists of the marks of main subjects along with one language and two other papers, which I attempted in class 12th. The admission process of the college was online and it was at the Common Seat Allocation system (CSAS) portal. We give exams two times a year. In a particular semester, we have to give three main papers along with Ability Enhancement Course (AEC), Skill Enhancement Course (SEC), Value Addition Course (VAC), and Generic Elective (GE) papers.

The year-wise fee of my course or I can say tuition fee of my course is Rs. 27,970 per year. Categories like General and OBC have to pay this amount whereas SC/ST has to pay slightly less than this that is Rs. 27,785 per year. I belong to a general category, therefore I have to pay according to it, whereas some of my batch mates are from the SC or ST category, therefore they have to pay it according to their category. There are no other extra caution or development charges, but I have to pay exam fees every semester, which varies according to the choice of my papers. There are different and many scholarships that our college provides on the basis of financial need as well as merit based such as Premvati Raghubir Singh Scholarship, which awarded Rs. 600 every year to those students who have obtained first division in the last examination taken. We also have other scholarships such as B.P. Ram Kishan Dass Scholarship, Rai Achhru Ram Scholarship, S.P. Raina Memorial Scholarship, Ganpat Rai Gopal Devi Merit Scholarship, and many more.

The faculty-to-student relationship is quite approachable. Many of the faculties are very friendly and help students a lot. Our faculty is very nice and I like it a lot. According to me, it is one of the best faculties. There are no such faculties that I didn't like. Every faculty is different and is correct according to their place. Our course curriculum is very relevant and we learn a lot from our course, which will definitely going to help us in our future. Their method of teaching includes Blackboard, PPTs, assignments, tests well as group discussions. The student-teacher ratio in our college is 56:1.

Our college has two main academic blocks and it is spread across 25-acre of land. Classrooms are also large and have a seating capacity from 60 to 150 students as per class size. It has a library, labs, an auditorium named Sanganeria, a Research center, Amphitheatre, a Sports complex, a common room, a canteen, and many more facilities. My favorite thing in college infrastructure is the sports complex. It consists of a large field with basketball and volleyball courts. The Relaxo Research Center in our campus complements our course teaching and academic experience.

According to me, overall campus life is amazing and worth it. One of the things that I like the most about Hindu College is its crowd. Students from different states and cultures come to my college for education. Students present in my class come from different states they are from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Maharashtra, Assam, Bihar, etc. It is like a union of students that are tied together by the bond of education, but they are different on the basis of their cultural grounds. Yes, there are a large number of societies present in our college, such as Dance, Music, Drama, poetry, etc. There are also a large number of extracurricular activities organized by our college societies with exciting prizes. Our college also has an annual fest named Mecca and events occur on festivals like Diwali, named Suruchi, etc.
