Good Memories at THDC-IHET

Overall Rating
THDC IHET is the only engineering Institute in Tehri Garhwal. It carries the name of THDC, the great Indian PSU that developed India's highest rock fill dam, Tehri Dam. The college didn't live up to the expectations. I graduated 12th in 2020 and due to Covid-19, I chose a college near my hometown of Tehri along with my friend. Since it is govt. college, the fees is affordable. It is a good choice for you as it is an affordable B.Tech Institute.
 

Academics Rating
From my school time, I loved computers and Tech. I loved to open my CPU, plug something out of it and rebuild it again. I took my calling to take Computer Science as my major in B.Tech. The admission process is simple. There is centralized counseling for all govt. engineering colleges in Uttarakhand conducted by UTU which is entirely online. The eligibility is JEE main but since many seats are left empty, only 12th marks are enough.
Fees at the time of admission is Rs. 40,000. For Odd semester the fee is Rs. 34,600 and for Even semester it is Rs. 37,100. The hostel fee (without mess) is Rs. 12,000 per semester. There are 2-3 TFW seats in each branch with full tuition fees waiver.
 

Faculty Rating
The teaching methodologies used by the faculty members at THDC Institute of Hydro Power Engineering and Technology are not up to the mark.
 

Placement Rating
There is no Placement cell at THDC Institute of Hydro Power Engineering and Technology.
 

Hostel Rating
There are 2 boy’s and 1 girl’s hostel. They are new buildings hence good enough. They have 3 bedroom accommodations. The additional facility provided includes washing machine, common room, table tennis and TV. There is a volleyball court in Boys Hostel. The Mess is a community kitchen run by the students, so the food is fine.
 

Infrastructure Rating
THDC Institute of Hydro Power Engineering and Technology boasts exceptional building infrastructure as it is build by THDC. The classrooms are spacious with natural light. They are equipped with smart boards, white board and green boards. The seating is comfortable. IHET has a well maintained central library with rich collection of books for academics, research, competitive examination, newspapers, magazines and journals. The central canteen is a lovely place to enjoy company of friends and also a great one for a date. There is also a gym that is open in mornings and evenings.
 

Campus Rating
Campus Life is not very exciting. New Tehri is a hill town with small market. Plus the college is situated 15 kilometers far from the town. The scenic beauty of place invites students from plains to experience life in hills. Clubs are there, but their programs are very formal and boring. IHET cricket league is conducted once every semester. It is the source of joy for students. NSS is very active conducting cultural events, blood donation campaigns, cleanliness drives, etc.

    The nature around THDC Institute of Hydro Power Engineering and Technology is very attractive and pollution free. The campus is crowd free and is a very quiet place. This institute is situated in mountain and only a few institutes are situated at these locations. The entire faculty is well qualified and supportive in nature.
