Hindu College's Unique Student Societies and Activities

Hindu College comes under the topmost college of Delhi University North campus. Hence, It was on the first preference for my college application. When I first entered the Hindu College premises, it was overwhelming to be honest. I stepped in with dreams and hopes that studying here is going to be my first step to make my life better. The campus is really huge (25 acres to be exact). I still remember, the first week just went getting lost and discovering different areas in the college. This college gives you overall exposure not only academically but socially and emotionally. I still remember when the CUET results come out, and I saw that I got Hindu, I was over the moon. The first two days were really the ones which were overwhelming after that I got used to it and my life there. I mean now I feel it is not that big of a deal, but at that time it was.

I am pursuing B.Sc (H) Botany from Hindu College. I was always interested in plants. The science courses offered by Hindu college are said to be the best and they are. When I first got there I was really impressed by the laboratories and equipments as I came from a school where there were no functioning setups which we could work on properly and get the results. Well, as the college overall is great. It also has high standards for the students coming to study there. For my course, the eligibility is minimum for giving the entrance test (CUET) that you have to pass class 12th with minimum 55% in physics, chemistry, biology and english but the cut-off of CUET merit for the Hindu college is really high making it hard to get in the college. It is worth the struggle. After the results of the test, the further procedure happens through CSAS portal (it also takes a month). About college exams, It happens every semester and the average of them makes the CGPA for the year. After you get into college you will realise that marks are not everything in life and this college gives you enough opportunities to get above them.

This is the only thing that can be worked upon by Hindu College. I got admission in Hindu college in 2024 where the fee I paid for the year was around Rs. 30,000 and after that I got into the college. There is a little difference in the amount of fee for SC, OBC, ST and general students but it is not that huge to put a financial relief on the category students. There are numerous scholarships provided by the college itself but you have to check the eligibility properly to apply for it.

The faculty members for my course at Hindu College are pretty great. The faculty members teaching our college have more than 18-30 years of teaching experience. They are pretty approachable and we have a great bond with them. They are flexible with any teaching method as the situation demands for it. We have taken classes with the traditional methods (chalk and blackboard), with new digital methods (ppt) and field trips for my course is a must. The teacher student ratio is appropriate for my course as botany is not popular so our batch has 30 students and they are also divided in two groups (because we have lab classes) so every student gets individual attention from the teacher.

The campus of Hindu College is spread in 25 acre of land, constituting new academic block, old academic block, sports complex, etc. In these comes our two auditoriums (Sanganeria and Sushila Devi Auditorium), our three tiered library (which is really astonishing), two Canteens, Amphitheater, Relaxo Research Centre, Seminar Hall, Conference Room, Botany Museum, Botanical Garden, all the laboratories (Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology), Computer Lab, etc. In the science area there are particular wings for each science course. The campus overall is covered with plants and is really beautiful.

My overall campus life of Hindu College is not exactly what I imagined (thanks to Bollywood / Hollywood) but it is not bad either. The crowd comes from all over the country and outside of it as well. There are many foreign students pursuing different courses in our college. There are many exchange students from different countries as well. There is a vast diversity in our college. There are around 64 societies in our college exploring different interests, welcoming you to be a part of them. Every day there is a competition happening in the campus. Fests and other ec\vents are also organized here. The events are organized in auditorium, some society drills, performances, etc. You can't get bored. My overall experience is pretty good here. I have 2.5 years left to fill my review with more details and I am looking forward to it.
