St Joseph's College in Hyderabad Excels in Journalism Education

Hyderabad, being one of the most developed cities in Telengana and South India, is a perfect location for upgrading your skills and education level. The reason I chose this college for my master's is because it is mainly known for its journalism and mass communication. Here students are trained in such a way that they themselves can see from day one where they will be the day they get graduated. The education level here is excellently outstanding, which helps students shine out in the future.

The course I chose at St Joseph's Degree and PG College is Masters in Journalism and Mass Communication, Overall 2 year’s program. I got enrolled in October 2022 and finished by July 2024. For admission I went through an entrance exam and upon my passing percentage I was being selected. Once I passed the entrance exam I was qualified for further process. Later, on I had an interview round with the Professor Mr. Glen Dcouza where he cross questioned me and after a brief interview the management decided to move further with me and granted me admission in the college. College is very strict when it comes to exams and no malpractices are allowed, in case you get flunk you need to reappear for the exam next year. The professor's are excellent in their subject and they make sure you understand the depth of the subject. Smart classes are given more importance and for few subjects you have practical classes where you get to learn how to handle camera and many more.

The fees of my course was Rs. 90,000 per annum so Rs. 1,80,000 for 2 year program. However, the fees includes registration fee, admission fee, and trip fee. There were no kind of discounts given related to fees but certain category students are given discounts such as mentally challenged (autistic) and SC category students. Moreover, if you feel like you want to study further, the college management helps you in getting into top Universities in abroad in UK, USA, Europe, Netherland, France, and many more.

The faculty members who taught me at St Joseph's Degree and PG College during my program were excellent in their sector of work. Most of them are Ph.D holders who always try to encourage students in a positive way. We were always taught through smart classes, practical lessons, group discussions, seminar, debate, and more fun way. The professor's have been always very supportive and they would always come forward to help us in case of any situation or mishappening. It was more like we had a relation of friends or siblings, who always are best for you. They are very approachable during any time of the day; they are just a call away. In case, of any situation actions would be taken at the same time so that students feel assured about being there.

St Joseph's Degree and PG College has placement cell where the companies hire students through campus recruitment. Students are given update about the placement process through whatsapp group where they would mention about the company, the role, and the salary criteria. Companies like Deloitte, Amazon, Accenture, and many more come down to college every year to hire the best for their firms. The package would be between 5-9 lakhs per annum and the highest would have been of 15 lakhs. As a student I gave interview for Micron a software company where I went through 5 rounds of interviews and lost it at the 5th round due to a practical test.

St Joseph's Degree and PG College is spread on a huge land, where you can see total of 4 buildings with 5 floors on each. Moreover, every floor has merely 16 class rooms and each class room has comfortable benches with smart class, speakers, and AC. On the 4th floor of the 4th building you have a beautiful library with mesmerizing interior occupied by 12,000 books, chairs, table for students. You also have a different section for newspaper and magazines. A librarian is always present to help you and look after you. The best part about the college is its canteen right next to parking area offering delicious dishes to its students. We also have a building solely dedicated to music just next to the canteen where students practice out their art. In case, of any medical emergency you have a medical room with doctor to treat you.

I don't know how fast my time flew in this campus. It was like just yesterday when I took admission and when I woke up I was already a graduate. The college has nearly 2,500 students including all fields. There are many clubs that you can be a part of. I was in decoration club taking care of all arrangements during any program. Every month some or the other events take place where students and other college students actively participate. My overall experience was very good especially talking on academic basis.
